Karl-Anthony Towns On Learning To Be A Champ From Kevin Garnett
By Glenn Erby
The Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Karl-Anthony Towns with the No. 1 overall pick in June’s NBA Draft, with the idea that Kevin Garnett would serve as a hands-on mentor for their rookie center and young core of Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine.
According to reports, Garnett has already started working one-on-one with Towns, practicing with him at Las Vegas Summer League.
Towns grew up watching Garnett and is thrilled to be learning how to become a champion from the future Hall-of-Famer.
“The biggest thing that I want to really take away from Kevin Garnett, is learn how to be a champion,” Towns said on the Boomer & Carton show. “He has a ring. I want to get a ring also, in my career. Possibly multiple. I want to do that and I want to actually bring that to Minnesota first.”
“I like the studs on my team,” Towns said in a reference to a joke from Carton about Garnett winning a NBA title because he was traded to a talented Celtics team.
The Timberwolves re-signed Garnett to a two-year deal, with the idea that he can help mold the youngsters over the next few seasons.
