MMA Fighter Brandon Davis (Black Panther) talks Training, Upcoming Fight & More [Interview]

Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little about yourself?
Brandon: My name is Brandon Davis fight name black panther. I fight out of Wilmington De at BJJ 302. And I’ve been fighting for almost 3 years now.
Getmybuzzup: What is MMA Fighting like?
Brandon: MMA fighting is a crazy sport that is very competitive, the grind is harder than any other sport and it takes a man who’s willing to run a marathon of mastering all styles of unarmed combat.
Getmybuzzup: What got you interested in MMA?
Brandon: My older brother Tommy actually got me interested in the sport. When I was young he gave me a Tito Ortiz DVD that brought me to the love of MMA. I saw how it can bring the full potential athlete in a person and I always told myself I would be a MMA fighter.
Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your style as a fighter, and also as a person?
Brandon: I’m a perfectionist that wants to master all styles of MMA. I’ve been wrestling since I was 8yrs old and I’m a 2 time state runner up in folkstlye. And I’m a 2 time freestyle all American. My freestyle and Greco roman background are both strong styles that help me dominate the grappling side of fighting. On top of that I’m great with Thai kicks and my MMA boxing has been coming along way.
Getmybuzzup: Whose gym do you train out of?
Brandon: I train at BJJ 302 located in Wilmington Delaware. As far as talent goes were the best gym in Delaware. We have a great upcoming young team with great coaches to put us in a great position in our careers.
Getmybuzzup: What’s the toughest part of training?
Brandon: The toughest part of training is getting past the mental lapse once your body has reached its peak at a fatigue state, Mentally you have to push through when your body is shutting down from a hard hit or whatever adversity u have to overcome at that point.
Getmybuzzup: What is the hardest element of being a professional fighter, in your opinion?
Brandon: The hardest element of being a professional fighter is smart training keeping your body healthy and making it a point to understand the science behind becoming a world champion fighter.
Getmybuzzup: What are your career ambitions?
Brandon: My career ambitions are to be the best flyweight in the world. ” The way I see it is if your gonna fight and put your body on the line why not do it to go down in history and make some noise for yourself and the people that got you there. I want to be a UFC champion and this sport is not the most convenient to be just a hobby.
Getmybuzzup: When is your next fight and who will you be fighting?
Brandon: My next fight I’m hoping for May 20th still looking to match me up with up with an opponent but I’ll take on anyone they give me I’m already fighting up a weight class and I feel stronger than any other Batam weight or flyweight ami. I’m too fast too strong and my wrestling is very hard to deal with.
Getmybuzzup: Other than MMA what are your hobbies and favorite things to do to pass time?
Brandon: Other then MMA , my favorite hobbies would be coaching wrestling and hiking with my two pit bulls at home
Getmybuzzup: What’s the best fight you have seen live or on TV?
Brandon: The best fight I’ve have seen on TV would have to be Anthony Pettis vs. Benson Henderson WEC feather weight title. Back and forth action the entire 20 minutes. A true fighters dream to have a gut check brawl like that and to come out victorious.
