2016 GLOBAL CITIZEN FESTIVAL HOST COMMITTEE

Today, Global Citizen announced its host committee for the 2016 Global Citizen Festival.Members of the host committee will support Global Citizen’s campaign work in lead up to, and on the day of the Festival, with the goal of holding our world leaders to account on their commitments to solve the world’s biggest issues.
The Festival, held on the Great Lawn of New York’s Central Park on September 24, celebrates five years of Global Citizens joining together to take action and create meaningful change in the lives of people living in extreme poverty worldwide. The full concert will air on MSNBC, and stream on YouTube.com/GlobalCitizen and MSNBC.com beginning at 3 PM ET on Saturday, September 24.
The group of world renowned stars, committed to supporting Global Citizen’s mission at the Festival this year, includes: Olivia Wilde, Forest Whitaker, Chris Rock, Dianna Agron, Malin Akerman, La La Anthony, Camren Bicondova, Connie Britton, Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Chiklis, Andy Cohen, Monique Coleman, Amanda de Cadenet, Pete Dominick, Heather Graham, Danai Gurira, Erin Heatherton, Daymond John, Taryn Manning, Tamzin Merchant, Bridget Moynahan, Bill Nye, Aaron Paul, Kal Penn, Erin Richards, Isha Sesay, Amani Toomer, Pete Wentz, and Bonnie Wright. Willie Geist and Tamron Hall will co-host the Festival MSNBC broadcast.
The announcement coincides with the release of the final Festival Campaign, which provides one more opportunity for fans and activists to earn tickets. This Festival Campaign focuses on the issue of health, where Global Citizens will complete actions to help promote good health as a critical component to lifting people out of extreme poverty, and ensure children, families and communities have access to healthy lives. Activists can participate in the final Festival Campaign via Global Citizen’s new app, launching this week. The app is available for iOS and Android.
GUCCI and CHIME FOR CHANGE return as the Festival’s presenting partner, and join premier media partners, MSNBC & Comcast NBCUniversal, and major partners Live Nation, Caterpillar, Johnson & Johnson, Google’s Made with Code, YouTube, Citi, Clear Channel Outdoor, iHeartMedia, Alex and Ani, and NYC Parks. Associate partners this year include Kirkland & Ellis, Doppler Labs and Riot House.
Live Nation and Ticketmaster are lending their live music expertise to the festival, with Live Nation serving as the exclusive entertainment and promotion partner, and Ticketmaster handling all ticketing for the event. Live Nation is also mobilizing its global network to get millions of music fans involved in the Global Citizen movement.
iHeartMedia and the Global Citizen Festival will once again partner to help channel the power of music to fight inequality, protect our planet and end extreme poverty by 2030. This year the two iconic events take place on the same weekend allowing for unique in-show collaborations and a special cross-over performance by Usher who will perform on both stages in one night.
The Festival’s broadcast and live stream will be produced by Emmy Award-winning producer, Ken Ehrlich (Grammy Awards).
