Tuki Carter – “Make A Way” (Prod. by SAP) [Audio]
By Jack Barnes
Taylor Gang‘s Tuki Carter combines his twin passions of music and tattoo artistry into a unique and compelling career. On “Make A Way,” his new single, Tuki reveals how he pulls off his two-way hustle, flashing a Big Boi-esque flow as he reflects on his responsibilities as a single father. Riding a poignant instrumental, with epic electric guitar and insanely catchy electronic arpeggios courtesy of producer SAP, Tuki emotes on the chorus, showcasing a smooth singing voice amid his mantra-like repetition of the titular phrase. Premiered by Mass Appeal, “Make A Way” is the latest single from Tuki’s upcoming debut album Flowers & Planes, which hits stores on April 28th. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump.
The owner of City of Ink, a popular chain of tattoo parlors, the Atlanta-based Tuki Carter first made his mark on the Hip-Hop industry by inking tattoos for the likes of Rick Ross and Young Jeezy. In 2007, Rick Ross introduced Tuki to Wiz Khalifa, beginning a fruitful creative partnership that has lasted a decade. In recent years, Tuki shifted his main artistic focus from ink to music, releasing the mixtape Tuki in 2015. Last winter, Carter dropped The Tuki Toker Tape, a reverb-heavy effort that focuses on the “stoner” side of Tuki’s persona, featuring singles such as the Halsey-sampling “Like Me” and the trippy “Drinking Weed.” By contrast, Flowers & Planes, will have a more universal message. Explains Tuki: “Anyone who appreciates art, dreams, and aspirations will vibe to [Flowers & Planes]. I don’t want to be the next big something. I want to be a staple in the world for art and music.”
