Aerial footage shows crushed remains of car after Westminster attack – Daily Mail

Robert Nicholson was cycling next to the Houses of Parliament today when the car crashed into security barriers after driving into a group of cyclists. Video footage (above) showed paramedics attending to the injured cyclists next to Parliament Square following the smash that saw the area put into lockdown. But Mr Nicholson told Sky News he did not feel shaken by what happened, saying: ‘Being English, you have a cup of tea and a biscuit and you carry on.’ He said: ‘To be honest, I thought it was something like a car accident, he got lost, scared, maybe he was being chased by the police or something.’ At that moment, Mr Nicholson ‘jumped off my bike and ran after him’ because he thought the driver ‘was going to stop very shortly afterwards’. But the driver carried on, and Mr Nicholson said: ‘When the armed police yelled ‘clear out, get out the way’, I realised it was a bit more serious.’

Impeached West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Davis retires - Daily Mail

Wed Aug 15 , 2018
West Virginia lawmakers have impeached all four state Supreme Court justices — including a suspended justice facing a 23-count federal indictment — for spending issues on Monday night. The extraordinary move impacts West Virginia state Supreme Court justices Robin Davis, Allen Loughry, Beth Walker and Margaret Workman. Tuesday, just hours after the impeachment decision, Davis, a Democrat, announced her retirement. She called the impeachment a travesty of justice and an unabashed move by one branch of government to take over another. Davis, while announcing her departure at the state Capitol, said West Virginia citizens would now 'be afforded their constitutional right to elect my successor in November.' Any of the three remaining justices who were impeached and considering stepping down would have to do so by the end of the business day Tuesday, the deadline for retiring in time for their replacement to be decided in a special election this November.
