Archives from 2014 show the eggs Jeffrey Lendrum was carrying

Jeffrey Lendrum, was stopped at Heathrow Airport, London with 17 rare hawk, eagle and vulture eggs taped to his chest – plus two chicks which had already hatched. Lendrum, who has been branded ‘the Pablo Escobar (deceased Colombian drug lord) of the falcon egg smuggling trade’ told the officers that he was on his way to customs to declare his stash. He insisted he brought the eggs into the country to protect the birds because their natural habitat was being destroyed by tree felling. Lendrum was jailed for three years at Snaresbrook Crown Court. Left: Lendrum with the eggs strapped to his chest. Right: a chick which hatched from the eggs. Inset: the eggs seized from Lendrum in an incubator.
