Royce Da 5'9: Rappers Like Eminem, Nas, and Jay Z are Incredible in Their 40s (Part 8)

Thu Jul 5 , 2018
Watch Part 7: Part 1: -------------------------------- In this clip, Royce Da 5'9 discussed rappers getting slighted by the mainstream despite hip-hop dictating American popular culture. He pointed out how Kendrick Lamar's DAMN was a work of art but was slighted by the Grammys for not recognizing it for 'Album of the Year.' However, Royce did say Kendrick's Pulitzer prize victory should be a sign to younger artists as to what can be achieved if you take your craft seriously. Later on, Royce and Vlad discuss the generational divide in hip-hop, the genre aging, and how artists like JAY-Z, Nas, and Eminem are redefining what older rappers represent. He also went into the difference between making music as food for thought and recording music based solely on the feel or moment before explaining his own process.
