Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little about yourself?
Cap’n Richie: My name is Richárd Richter a.k.a Cap’n Richie, I was born in Hungary and I live in the Netherlands. This is my second Interview and I am a Producer, Writer and founder of my label “High & Higher Company”. My Possibilities were Limited years ago, till I was able to put all my knowledge together and start to create something, which is my own. I released 3 small albums this year, one solo the “Instead of Words” and two with Odilia Carmen the “High & Higher Company Volume 1 and 2” in more different electronic genres.
Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry?
Cap’n Richie: I count like, since I touched the first Studio Microphone of my life, so 12 years, but My singles were released first time in 2015 via more digital distributions as independent artist, and since 2018 under my Label name.
Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place?
Cap’n Richie: First I was writing Hungarian poems since the age of 7-8, after I started to rap on my language, therefore I wrote my first Beats, Musics later small albums.
Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your sound?
Cap’n Richie: Surprise! My Music Catalog is growing, and I focused rather to create something different again. Maybe it’s not practical strategy, because People easily get confused, that I am writing in more genres, and I don’t have enough musical material for longer shows in one style, but I like to practice like this. Later I will have more songs in one genre.
I have different type of songs for different people. I try to catch the ears of everyone with at least one song.
Getmybuzzup: Who are your inspirations in the music industry?
Cap’n Richie: Eric Alper and Rick Barker. I don’t know Them Personally, but the information’s which I got by their online platforms are simply Huge!
Getmybuzzup: How do you go about producing a song and what goes into your process?
Cap’n Richie: There are shorter and longer processes. I always started a song as my mood is. The most important thing, that I need to get inside the song, as if nothing else existed, then the results are good. I need the feeling that now I have nothing else to do. I used to prepare myself, like if I sit down now, then I am here with the song 5-18 Hours. I think the maximum was 18 hours, till I can improve the song. I like if the deadline is not too tight. One week for a good song from the start until the end Is not really good, but apart from this I have to set up my own deadlines as well, because without I will never finish the Track, and I am moving too slowly in my career.
Years ago I had smaller projects, so the Process was more simple, because I worked on one or two tracks maximum, and I thought I need to learn a bit less about the music industry, but after I realized, this is a much more complex business.
Getmybuzzup: What are you currently working on?
Cap’n Richie: Currently I am working on a remix, which will be my first released remix, but after I will go back to the Original Songs. I started all of the projects already, all should be better than before, and something new as well. My album series runs now on two different lines or waves, the “Instead of Words” in a kind of Drum and Bass style without Vocals and the “High and Higher Company 1 and 2” ,that’s my Electronic Mix Category with Odilia and I started to put together the new lines into my Music Catalog, I would mention one, a Chillout EP will enter next year.
Getmybuzzup: What did you buy with your first check off music?
Cap’n Richie: My first check is on the way, and obviously I will invest into my career. Later based on my current state I would like to help to improve my surrounding circle according to my best abilities.
Getmybuzzup: What are must haves when you’re in the studio working?
Cap’n Richie: Time, Good Mood, Freedom for Creativity.
Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?
Cap’n Richie: Hustle Every Day.
Getmybuzzup: Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?
Cap’n Richie: Depends on the person who is listening. I got different Feedbacks in the last years, some of them liked the beats, some of them the Vocals and Lyrics, but I think nowadays People like my music in one piece, as it is. I got many constructive criticisms. My music will develop a lot in the next 10 years.
Getmybuzzup: What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc..)
Cap’n Richie: I think I need to improve all my capabilities. Communication, Stronger Business Model, Better time Management, Productivity, Playing on Instruments, Visual Display. Till the Stage I have years still, If I will say that’s my main goal. There are endless opportunities in the music industry, there is no way to get out from the learning process.
Getmybuzzup: What’s your all-time favorite song?
Cap’n Richie: This is a very hard question. If I really need to name just one, then T.I. -Go Get It.
Getmybuzzup: In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?
Cap’n Richie: I am not sure what is my genre concretely. I don’t want to compare myself with others. I have just few similar songs, but If anybody can name other artists, I would be curious who is similar. I say this based on my Original Mixes not on remixes.
Getmybuzzup: Who have been some of your favorite artists that you’ve been able to work with?
Cap’n Richie: Nobody Yet. I had a couple of possibilities, but my art or my personality wasn’t in that state, to make this whole thing reality. We will see in the Future.
Getmybuzzup: How do you feel about the current state of music?
Cap’n Richie: 2018 Is Just Insane! Very colorful. I have found many good songs on Spotify, Soundcloud, and on radio stations. Perhaps there are too many Remixes and Covers. I made few remixes too, so I talk against myself a bit, but nevertheless I feel that. I love the way of evolving music. Lot of new tools and programs on the market for music creating, the technology is just so impressive plus anyone can build up their own Labels.
This is the year when everybody can release their own genres freely, next to it, it’s the golden age of Television, endless Possibilities if you are flexible and creative.
These rapidly growing Possibilities and Freedom will give the artists the creative freedom, to bring even more interesting styles and noises and construct an even larger Music Catalog for the Earth. Not just a gigantic one, many more great musics and artists will come. Very customizable for every musicians how they want to make music with the new devices, instruments and technology.
Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as music?
Cap’n Richie: The Biggest goals are the Billboard and a Grammy, couple of Shows, Videos but I am very interested to make music for Movies, Video Games. I focused now to the Journey not to the greatest goals, if this come true just thirty or fifty years later, I am happy still. Without them as well. My greatest inner goal is, writing music, anywhere, anytime. I am working currently on my Creative Freedom.
Getmybuzzup: What separates you from other DJ’s / producers? (What’s makes you different?)
Cap’n Richie: Never Nobody Controlled the way of my music, I was writing the songs as I wanted, and of course my Personality. I know some similar examples, than mine, but I also developed some own style. Probably based on what I like, all mixed together. Everyone is Unique, I am and You too!
Getmybuzzup: When you’re not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
Cap’n Richie: I don’t have so much time to relax, but I used to spend the rest with my loved ones, who live closer to me. We go somewhere or we drink something.
Mostly I am working, reading, learning, writing or I am doing something which brings me closer to my goals, even if with baby steps. I used to meditate sometimes to make me feel relaxed, but If I have very active months, I am able to sleep one hour randomly in the middle of the day anywhere. The most relaxing thing in my life is, when I am done with everything for the given day, and I am with my Partner.
Getmybuzzup: If you could work with any artist or collab with another producer who would it be?
Cap’n Richie: If with anyone, then with Dr. Dre.
Getmybuzzup: What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?
Cap’n Richie: My song with Odilia Carmen, the “Something Else”. Again a new start.
