Cooking up another collection of trap- and mob-influenced Bay Area bangers, Cookie Money announces Cookie World 2.5, his upcoming mixtape. Flashing a menacing monotone and expertly stringing slickly honest bars, Cookie Money specializes in no-frills and no-holds-barred street rap, buoyed by Cookie’s sneaky melodies and force of personality. Though his voice rarely betrays a trace of emotion, Cookie’s music touches on the dark undercurrents behind hood life, never dwelling too far from the massive loss he’s experienced in his neighborhood. Featuring appearances from Young Dolph, Philthy Rich, and Layemdown, plus production from Zaytoven and others, Cookie World 2.5 releases on October 27th.
A well-respected figure in the Bay Area, Cookie Money has connections to every rapper in the Bay Area scene. Born and raised in Oakland, Cookie Money fell into the street life from a young age, providing for his family after his father was sentenced to more than a decade in prison. Early on in his life on the streets, Cookie lost Anthony Butler, his best friend, to gun violence–the first of many senseless deaths that came to shape his worldview. Cookie Money started rapping at the suggestion of DJ Mustard, who gave Cookie several of his beats and booked him 90 days in the studio for him to learn how to rap. Since that fateful meeting with DJ Mustard, Cookie has worked with the likes of YG, E-40, Young Dolph, Boosie Badazz, Icewear Vezzo, and many others.

Today, Cookie Money shares “Doughboy Pt. 3,” a sinister, stuttering street anthem. Produced by Tommy Smars, “Doughboy Pt. 3” finds Cookie riding an addictive piano line with an addictive cadence, methodically listing a few of his favorite things: “Imma get money, fuck hoes, rock ice/Bitch, I did it on my own this is my life.” In the video, premiered by ELEVATOR, Cookie rocks two gold chains (hanging over a white tee emblazoned with a portrait of himself) while driving muscle cars, chilling in convenience stores, shooting dice, and painting a picture of how Cookie spends the ideal day in the life. “Doughboy Pt. 3” is the latest single from Cookie Money 2.5, following “Can’t Stop Now,” featuring Young Dolph, which has over 289,000 views on YouTube since its release in March.
