Deebs & Jarell Perry
By Jack Barnes
The video for “Relapse” is the second from Shift, a collaboration EP between Toronto-bred electronic producer and LA-based singer Jarell Perry. The dark and surrealistic visual begins in simple black and white, but later transforms into a glitchy piece of pixelated art in motion. Enjoy this video stream below after the jump.
It’s a directorial debut for rising fashion photographer-turned podcast host Yoshino, whose work is regularly featured in the pages of Elle and Flaunt Magazine. He discovered the video’s FX editor Ben Reyes while mining YouTube for inspiration – an internet connection not unlike that of Deebs and Perry, who released their EP well before meeting in-person.
What’s next: Leading up to a special one-off show in Los Angeles on February 5th, Perry’s new media venture and personal development brand Still Mind will release an exclusive line of mindfulness-inspired merch in 2016.
Deebs recently re-located from Toronto, Canada to Edinburgh, Scotland. The isolating geography has had a really interesting effect on his work which will be exemplified through a forthcoming single viz Trapdoor and mixtape for Bored Kids Who Draw
