Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little about yourself?

Devontaii: My name is Devontaii Aka Vontaii and I’m an R&B singer/ producer out of Miami. I started out producing music first then started being my own artist since I been passionate bout music since the age of 12 12. I used to make songs on cassette tapes on my mom’s karaoke radio and also make beats to my songs on an old ’80s like casino piano my friend dad gave me so every day after school I made a song. As a kid I had some struggles on deciding if I wanted to be really serious about music in the future but when my grandma died when was 12 going on 13 I just felt that she didn’t want me to give up on my talents because my whole family was raised and grew up on music. So here I am.

 

Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry?

Devontaii: I’m independent

Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place?

Devontaii: I got started by just producing at first then decided to make a song then fell in love with making music All-Around.

 

Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your latest single?

Devontaii: Funky, Soulful & jazzy.

Getmybuzzup: Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

Devontaii: Michael Jackson, Prince, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, D’angelo, Babyface and etc.

Getmybuzzup: How do you go about writing and producing a song and what is your process?

Devontaii: Whatever I see or feel that inspires me it could be anything but it’s mostly what type of mood or conversation I’m having with myself in my mind.

Getmybuzzup: What is the concept behind your forthcoming project?

Devontaii: The concept is gonna be very jazzy with a hip hop R&B twist. Similar to the early 2000’s sound.

 

Getmybuzzup: Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?

Devontaii: Yes! I’m planning on going on tour at the end of the year into the next.

Getmybuzzup: What did you buy with your first check off music?

Devontaii: I didn’t get a check yet still waiting on it lol

Getmybuzzup: What are must-haves when you’re in the studio working?

Devontaii: Positive Vibrations.

Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?

Devontaii: What’s business is business never personal.

Getmybuzzup: Will you be collaborating with any other artists in the future?

Devontaii: Of course!

Getmybuzzup: What artist have you had the pleasure of producing for?

Devontaii: Myself!

Getmybuzzup: Name an artist that you would like to work with production-wise?

Devontaii: Pharrell, Missy Elliot, Timberland, The Dream.

Getmybuzzup: Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?

Devontaii: I’ll say both

Getmybuzzup: What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc..)

Devontaii: Promotion

Devontaii: Michael Jackson – Man in the mirror

Devontaii: Last Meal – Snoop Dogg

Getmybuzzup: Your favorite artist of all time and why?

Devontaii: Michael Jackson because he touches souls with just his presence.

Getmybuzzup: Who’s your fav five artists right now?

Devontaii: Sir, Teyana Taylor, Ty Dolla $ign, Chris Brown, Jhené Aiko.

Getmybuzzup: In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

Devontaii: Chris Brown because he’s everything you want to see in an artist and that’s Top Tier Entertainment and music. He’s been a superstar since 16 and never fell off this man is an unbelievable talent.

Getmybuzzup: Who have been some of your favorite artists that you’ve been able to work with?

Devontaii: I got a lot and I haven’t work with any of them yet. But I know it’s coming.

Getmybuzzup: How do you feel about the current state of music?

Devontaii: It’s good so far I love how the females taking over the new R&B right now!

Getmybuzzup: Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?

Devontaii: Grammys of course.

Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as music?

Devontaii: To inspire and uplift spirits.

Getmybuzzup: Who would you say your music relates to the most?

Devontaii: Ryan Leslie, Usher, Chris Brown.

Getmybuzzup: What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)

Devontaii: My jazzy style and smoothness. My natural thoughts and ideas.

Getmybuzzup: When you’re not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?

Devontaii: Play Basketball

Getmybuzzup: If you could work with any producer who would it be?

Devontaii: Pharrell

Getmybuzzup: What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?

Devontaii: Me reaching number #30 on the R&B charts on iTunes. Blessing,

Getmybuzzup: When performing live what are some of the things you do to get the crowd involved?

Devontaii: Getting engaged with the crowd makes them feel like they on stage performing with me.

Getmybuzzup: When performing live and the crowd is singing along how does that energy make you feel?

Devontaii: Astonishing!

Devontaii: The Wealth Choice by Dennis Kimbro

Getmybuzzup: What’s your favorite sports team and why?

Devontaii: All Miami teams because Miami is where I’m from. I’m a die-hard fan no matter how sorry they been for years lol

Devontaii: I got 2 Will Smith – Ali & Denzel Washington Malcolm X

Getmybuzzup: Name someone famous who inspires you and why?

Devontaii: I’m inspired by everybody successful in the game I love the wins and lossless of everyone’s story. I’m fascinated with the struggles and preparation of the successful ones overcome to become great.
