Rapper Dktr N9ne has steadily developed his fan base with the release of “Addict.” The infectious, party track produced by Meltycanon [Father, Lil Yachty] has been a huge success within the Austin hip-hop scene. Its lyrics exude East Coast bravado and the beat has enough bounce to remind listeners that he is a southern boy. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump.

“Addict” is a popular single off his Crybaby: The Playlist project. Instead of dropping a full-length album, N9ne collaborated with Meltycanon for the 7-track project released exclusively on Tidal. “Addict” quickly became a favorite among listeners. Its popularity can be attributed to the recognition Meltycanon gained after producing Father’s internet hit, “Heartthrob,” last year. N9ne’s knack for creating music that appeals to the new generation of hip-hop fans helps too.

“I done turned to an addict, I done turned to an addict. Now she’s trying to leave her man, man I think that sh** tragic.” The hook is simple, catchy and epitomizes southern hip-hop. He intends on bringing awareness to the Austin hip-hop scene with his music and “Addict” from Crybaby: The Playlist is a great start. Crybaby: The Playlist has amassed thousands of streams worldwide and will continue to blossom as N9ne’s prepares to kick-off a short tour throughout Texas.
