DUST’s (@WatchDust) Afrofuturism Featuring George Clinton [Video]

DUST

By Jack Barnes

With his futuristic sounds, bright costumes and liberating messages, the funk doctor, ditched his doo-wop gig to grab the baton from Sun Ra and other powerhouse talents in black music with the founding of the iconic funk bands Parliament and Funkadelic.  As the captain of the almighty mothership, Clinton introduced the world to P-Funk, a combination of rock, blues, gospel and JB’s era soul, in the 1970s and 80s. Enjoy this video stream below after the jump.

Clinton — a true visionary in funk music – emerged from the almighty Mothership to funk up the universe and expand the mythology of the philosophical and artistic lens that would later come to be known as Afrofuturism.
