“It’s only a matter of time before Drake comes to cosign these Canadian brethren,” claimed Mass Appeal in their premiere post of The Posterz‘ chopped-and-screwed “Want It All” single. “I’m high on Posterz because they can rap unlike the rest of the clones,” declared Jeff Weiss. Today, the trio is delivering their sophomore project JUNGA via Passion of the Weiss, showing off their musical diversity which ranges from modern-day boom-bap (“Want It All”) to a rock-infused love/hate anthem (“Ben Up”), and even a flip of synth-pop duo Secret Sun (“Cold Coast Remix.”) Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump.
“The gutter rhymes are just as gritty and witty as on any other track they’ve released,” Mass Appeal raved for “Want It All,” adding “The eerily slow halftime pace leaves plenty of room for deep, dark, dirty low-end bass that would make Earl Sweatshirt and Flying Lotus proud.” The track follows The Posterz’ acclaimed “Bulalay“ visual, which premiered via The FADER. The trio, consisting of rappers Husserand Kris the $pirit, along with producer Joey Sherrett, have also been dubbed by Complex as the “pillars of the new wave of Montreal rap.” Their debut EP, Starships and Dark Tints, landed them on the radars of the Huffington Post, who named them a “Top 10 Artists to Follow” in 2014. Junga, their sophomore release, is available today.
