Former New York Mets manager Willie Randolph shares an El Duque story from 2006 | SNY

In this bonus segment from SNY’s 2006 New York Mets Reunion on Like We Never Left, former Mets manager Willie Randolph shares a story about pitcher Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez getting injured right before their 2006 playoff run, and how the veteran hurler was “crying like a baby” because he couldn’t pitch for the team in the postseason.

“During this year, what do we have to keep us connected? We have shared experiences and video conferencing. SNY combines these 2 things to create a content series that can resonate with New York sports fans during these unprecedented times.

‘Like We Never Left’ will reunite a group of people via video conference, a group of people who have a past connection through New York sports that we can take advantage of in the present. By seeing them together again, having them share stories, reveal secrets, and celebrate their history and fandom, we tap into the nostalgia and the thrill of these figures coming back to each other in an intimate and exclusive setting.”
