Decatur polymath Genius and his crew mob out at a liquor store in East Atlanta in the new video for “Make It Work,” premiered today by HipHopDX. With “Make It Work,” Genius introduces gold-grilled Atlanta rapper Felipeas the duo take pride in the relentless lifestyle they lead while tackling a booming trap production from TL On the Beat, with the chorus boasting, “I was down bad but a young n*gga came up, guess who made somethin’ work.” The plug in a thriving scene that he helped orchestrate, Genius earned his rep as a DJ and curator in Atlanta clubs, breaking songs like Migos’ “Bando,” K Camp’s “Do It,” and Charlie Boy Gang’s “Beef It Up.” With a knack for discovering new talent, his A&R skills have come to the forefront with his well-respected and highly-trafficked Slumchat mixtape series, in which he compiles a blend of buzzing club records and original tracks. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump.

Genius grew up outside of Negril, Jamaica before relocating to Decatur with his mom. “Make It Work” is the opening track from A Eastside Story: Deluxe Edition, a collaborative project from Genius with Felipe. Genius is the official DJ for K Camp, whom he tapped alongside Que for the VIBE-premiered “Movie 2.0,” which has been gaining traction with 40K+ streams since its release earlier this month. A Eastside Story: Deluxe Edition includes additional features from Hoodrich Pablo JuanMr. 2-17, K-Noe, Rich Espy, T-HoodCoca VangoScotty ATL, and Two-9. Genius’ A Eastside Story: Deluxe Edition is slated for a June release.
