Hatty Maines Gets Trippy in “UPSET” [Music Video]

By Jack Barnes

MC Hatty Maines is thrilled to announce the release of his new single “UPSET.”. “UPSET” is a celebration of sorts for the emerging Los Angeles spitter as he begins to gain momentum in a new city. The track is an uptempo bop that shows Hatty Maines’ playfulness as an artist backed with smooth flows and a gentle bridge that bleeds braggadocio. “UPSET” will surely make the rounds this summer as it’s a coming of age story everyone can relate to. Enjoy this video stream below after the jump and please share this with friends.

“UPSET is about me finally getting some resources and being able to live my life a little more comfortably. I was suffocating in bedrooms without windows in Brooklyn for years, delivering pizzas and working in a soup stand. Now I’m in LA, now I’m doing better and I want everybody to know.” – Hatty Maines

This isn’t Hatty Maines’ first go around the block. He has been releasing tracks since early 2016 and made waves with his singles “S.O.S”, “Rain Dance” and “Run It Up.” Receiving praise from EARMILK, HipHopDX, AllHipHop.com, and even the CEO of The FADER, Rob Stone, Hatty’s definitive style and playfully witty bars make him stand out from today’s crowd of typical SoundCloud rappers. There aren’t many artists that can take the Spongebob Squarepants theme song and turn it into a summer bbq banger.

Hatty Maines’ journey through music started in high school. Casually making beats and rapping with friends at only 16, Maines drifted away from music when he went to play Division 1 lacrosse at Hofstra University. However, it wasn’t all fun and games, as he navigated the loss of his father and the bitter end to a tumultuous relationship. After being cut from the lacrosse team, it seemed that the only thing left for him to do was music. Maines states, “I pushed through the misery with rap.”

Hatty Maines soon moved to Brooklyn and began taking his craft seriously. Performing at open mics, showcases, and venues around the city, he took time to hone his skills as a performer as well as a songwriter and producer. This year, Hatty picked up and moved to Los Angeles looking for new vibes and inspiration to push him through new ceilings in 2018. Beyond “UPSET,” Hatty Maines will be rolling out new content throughout the year, so keep an eye out!
