At just 19, HAWA has already lived many musical lives, including touring the world as one of the youngest-ever composers for the New York Philharmonic – after she immigrated from Berlin and Western Africa to NYC – before breaking free of its stuffy confines. HAWA’s pivot to flex-filled raps and ruminations on the women she loves: those who she plays and those who play her, has earned attention from Vogue, Pitchfork, FADER, Notion, i-D, Dazed, W Magazine and many more, and garnered collaborations with Telfar and Gap.
