In this episode of Ghost Kitchen, we visit Caracas Arepas Bar. With a location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and a seasonal outpost in Rockaway Beach, Caracas has been serving homemade Venezeulan food with welcoming, family vibes in New York City since 2003. But right now, their business needs the community’s help more than ever. We speak with co-founder and GM Maribel Araujo, Assistant GM German Brancho, and chef Juan Sanchez about the best time to eat arepas (spoiler: anytime), why they partnered with Thrillist’s Ghost Kitchen, and how you can support local businesses like Caracas in New York City.
With social distancing becoming the new norm, restaurants still remain an essential part of our community. Whether it’s pivoting to pick-up and delivery or lending a helping hand to those in need, these businesses are adapting with the times. Thrillist’s new show ‘Ghost Kitchen’ spotlights how these restaurants are changing and bringing people together, giving us a first hand perspective on how these establishments are serving a new purpose beyond just food.
