Their new self-titled album will release on September 13, 2020, with 11 tracks ranging from Blues, Blues Rock, Country Rock, Latin, Stoner Blues, Rock & Soft Rock. The music fulfills the pallet of a wild range of music throughout the world, with a genre that can only be described as… “Hybrid Blues”.

Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little bit about the group “Hybrid Blues”?

Hybrid Blues: A 4 Piece Band from Aotearoa (New Zealand) with a passion for all genres of music. Creating Originals loosely based around the Root of all modern music “The Blues” our Genre can only be described as “Hybrid”.

Getmybuzzup: How did the group come up with the name for the group?

Hybrid Blues: Like naming a child, it was important to the band to adopt a name that describes our creations and something Original. “Hybrid” was the word that stuck and with the Love of “The Blues” and the fact we consider the genre to being the Root to all modern music, “Hybrid Blues” was born.

Getmybuzzup: How long has the group been together?

Hybrid Blues: The band has evolved over a period of 2 ½ years. With the changes and unfortunate loss of previous band members HB’s image and feel has also morphed from a Pop Blues Rock to what now can be called more Blues Rock.

Getmybuzzup: How did the band get started in the first place?

Hybrid Blues: Maori (NZ)Founder Singer/Song Writer Roy Hudson returning from the United Kingdom felt he had more to offer to his Homeland Aotearoa (New Zealand)and hopefully to many music lovers throughout the world.

Getmybuzzup: What can the fans expect from your forthcoming self-titled debut album?

Hybrid Blues: Something for everyone. As many artists/songwriters/bands have influenced us throughout our personal lives, to achieve feedback from anyone who has taken something positive from our songs makes us feel “Job Done!!” “To Give is a much greater satisfaction than to Receive”.

Getmybuzzup: How has COVID impacted your ability to promote your forthcoming album?

Hybrid Blues: Oh, Crickey!!! We’re do we begin?!!! Like all bad things we have also achieved so much from it. Despite the frustrating delays of production, the beautiful thing was that it gave us more time to reflect on the songs/production/development of our originals. Lesson learnt definitely an approach we will adopt on our next album.

New Zealand Band Hybrid Blues Talks debut Self Titled AlbumGetmybuzzup: Any plans on doing any virtual performances for your fans?

Hybrid Blues: Easier said than done, but we will endeavor to do so

Getmybuzzup: How would you describe the band’s sound?

Hybrid Blues: “Hybrid” A question we get asked a lot and quite frankly causes a lot of confusion to listeners, DJ’s and reviewers. We believe as the Great Bands of the past, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Free, Mr. Jimi Hendrix didn’t go out into the world towards wanting to sound like someone else nor being like anyone else, they were, are and will always be Original.

Getmybuzzup: Who inspires the band in the music industry?

Hybrid Blues: The list is too vast so the best answer to that one is anything from Alter Bridge right through to ZZ Top.

Getmybuzzup: What did the group members buy with your first check off music?

Hybrid Blues: Didn’t buy anything…..went straight back into the Band’s Bank Account….”Rock n Roll Baby!!”

Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?

Hybrid Blues: “Keep it Real, keep it simple!”

Getmybuzzup: Will the band is collaborating with any other artists or bands on this project or in the future?

Hybrid Blues: Working on addition Horn section for next album and festival 2020/21

Getmybuzzup: What area does the band need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc…)

Hybrid Blues: Creating more styles/genres towards gaining an even wider listening audience…. also, more fun creation wise.

Getmybuzzup: What’s your all-time favorite song?

Hybrid Blues: “All my Life” Beatles

Getmybuzzup: In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

Hybrid Blues: Once again the list is too vast, but song writing-wise for me (Roy) Mr. Billy Joel

Getmybuzzup: How do you feel about the current state of music?

Hybrid Blues: Fortunately, we were brought up during a time where we were influenced by classic ’60s/70’s even 80’s bands that are still being played and collecting royalties in the year 2020….today besides a few artists, the music seems to be only a reflection on today’s unfortunate disposable world we live in.

Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as musicians?

Hybrid Blues: To give back what other classic influential bands in our past have given to us. And if it only means one person, “Job Done”

Getmybuzzup: Who would you say your music relates to the most?

Hybrid Blues: Hybrid Blues

Getmybuzzup: What separates you from other bands? (What’s makes your band different?)

Hybrid Blues: We don’t stick to only one genre….how boring!!

Getmybuzzup: When you’re not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?

Hybrid Blues: Fishing, Bush/Beach Walking, anything outdoors.

Getmybuzzup: If you could work with any producer who would it be?

Hybrid Blues: Tim Julian (Colour Field Studios (NZ))

Getmybuzzup: What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?

Hybrid Blues: Being signed with SGNB Records, Headling in Germany Festival and taking time out with Dr. John in New Orleans

Getmybuzzup: What artist music are you currently a fan of?

Hybrid Blues: Nothing new still hangin’ out with the classics, but Rival Sons are cool

Getmybuzzup: When performing live what are some of the things you do to get the crowd involved?

Hybrid Blues: Our music speaks for itself and that’s what it’s all about personally for me as well when attending festivals, gigs etc. The Mayhem, Excitement, Ambience is created by the music and the band that delivers it.

Getmybuzzup: When performing and the crowd is singing along how does that energy make you feel?

Hybrid Blues: Rewarding and Humble

Getmybuzzup: What can we expect from you in the future?

Hybrid Blues: Who knows…. still in the making but definitely “Hybrid”

Getmybuzzup: Where can the fans go to check out for your music?

Hybrid Blues: Leave this one to you Tracey….I need to get outside and breath the air a little 😉 Thank you
