J.R.Writer, Hell Rell, and 40 Cal to Drop A New Project called “The Upstage” [Music News]

By Jack Barnes

Dipset is officially back and Thanksgiving 2K18 is set to be a monumental day in Hip-Hop history. When active Dipset members Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones, and Freekey Zekey announced that they will be releasing their LP Diplomatic Ties on Turkey Day, it lead fans to question if we will be hearing from past members. Luckily for Dipset fans, their prayers have been answered. The trio of former Diplomats that consists of J.R.Writer, Hell Rell, and 40 Cal are set to release an EP titled The Upstage on November 22nd.

J.R.Writer, Hell Rell, and 40 Cal to Drop A New Project called "The Upstage" [Music News]Although they split into two separate groups for these projects, there is no bad blood between the former collective “It’s all love, there’s no tension with us” says J.R. Writer. When asked about why they will be releasing on the same day as their former group members, Writer stated that The Upstage was completed back in February of this year but with the release of Diplomatic Ties it only seemed right to give true Dipset fans a full complete project in the form of two separate albums. This works well for Dipset fans who will be able to indulge in the classic New York sound all at once, a very special moment for Hip-Hop purist in 2018.

For all three classic lyricist life has had its ups and downs. The Upstage for these Diplomats is about redemption, storytelling, and the place where unanswered questions will be answered. Every rumor and all hear say will be addressed unapologetically.

The Upstage is an 8-track EP that consists of quality bars, fire beats, and soulful content that we have come to expect out of these legendary emcees. There will be no trap sounds, no mumble raps, no pill popping and no lean. This project is for the purists that appreciate the essence of Harlem during a special era that is under-represented in Hip-Hop in 2018. Writer, Rell and 40 Cal are filling a void in a lane that is unoccupied in this current climate and The Upstage is a testament to that.

The trio is lyrically outworking and “Upstaging” any and all opposition. Expect solo music from all three members following the release of this project. The Upstage is the start to a new beginning for JR Writer, 40 Cal, and Hell Rell who have already left a huge impact on the culture, but aren’t done yet with solidifying their status as legends in the game. The Upstage will be released independently and available on all streaming platforms Thanksgiving Day, don’t forget to check out Diplomatic Ties and have a happy Thanksgiving via the Diplomats.
