Jake Supreme Talks New Single "See Me" [Interview]

Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry?

Jake Supreme: I started recording music when I was 14 years old and I have honed in on my craft since then, I got my first real industry experience working for a record label when I was finishing college now that I am 25 I feel like I have a real understanding of what it takes to be a successful indie artist.

Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place?

Jake Supreme: One day me and my friends were in study hall messing around spitting freestyles and recording it on an old iPod touch with a T-Pain app. After school, that day my one friend who was also my neighbor, suggested we try to record a real track, so we set up on his PC in his basement with an old computer mic and I recorded My first record at 14 to Fabolous “Breathe” instrumental. We brought it to school and people liked it and wanted more and it never stopped from there.

Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your latest single?

Jake Supreme: My latest single “See Me” is now available on all platforms it’s a hype track. It’s supposed to be empowering. For me, it was somewhat therapeutic because of what triggered that track. I wrote the song during a time where I was down on my luck Any finances, I had just recently had a backpack of mine stolen out of my vehicle that contained my MacBook along with other important things in it. I felt like whoever did that didn’t want to see me win so I took it personally and I started grinding, got my money up, and bought back everything that was in the bag and then some. Sometimes the best revenge is just to level up as a person and I believe everybody has had a situation where somebody wants to see you fail, but it’s important to know that you got another level in you.

Getmybuzzup: Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

Jake Supreme: Jay Z, Wiz Khalifa, Billy Danze, Black Eye Peas, Tupac, Mac Miller, Logic, Meek Mill, J Cole

Getmybuzzup: How do you go about writing and producing a song and what is your process?

Jake Supreme: Usually I pick a beat first and nowadays I use mostly in-house producers that I know personally or have built relationships with online so that we have rights to our masters. Then when it comes to writing I do write my own songs. There are times where I am either working with a feature or when I’m making music in my hip hop soul group MANiFEST! HB that we might have multiple writers on a track. But I write any and everywhere on my phone or in the car. There are some tracks we do freestyle but it really depends on the mood and the message.

Getmybuzzup: What is the concept behind your forthcoming project?

Jake Supreme: This project is a result of the emotions and the feelings I have had over this past year or two. I’ve been through a lot of highs and lows especially in this Covid era. Many different tracks touch on many different things and it’s up to the audience to make something of it themselves or just enjoy and take it for what it is.

Getmybuzzup: Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?

Jake Supreme: I really do want to start doing shows on a more regular basis and do some touring. With Covid, it has been difficult to book those types of gigs. We had SXSW booked for 2019 but covid ruined everything. Hopefully, this year will be different.

Getmybuzzup: What did you buy with your first check off music?
