Music mastermind and freethinker, Janelle Monáe teams up with Pandora for the streaming services ‘Literally, Literally’ series and opens up about her new album, Dirty Computer.
She uses virtual reality (the VRCapture) to recreate the illustrations and words on the spot that inspired the concept of her new album. She also speaks about the current state of music, freedom over fear, redefining what it means to be African American in the future and more. Monáe goes on to say, “When the world tells us that the very existence of us, or our skin color, could get us kicked out of Starbucks. When the world tells us that because of your skin color, the police can mistake your cellphone for a gun and you’re murdered, it’s important that I tell my story and I tell stories about us in the future and redefine what it means to be African American in the future and where we can go.”
Check out her new album on Pandora here. Fun fact: She already has 56.7 million spins on the platform overall!
