In 2012, Brooklyn MC Joey Bada$$ dropped his debut mixtape ‘1999’ at only 17 years old. At the time, free mixtape sites like DatPiff were a major distribution platform for hip-hop artists. Now, the music industry has moved on to streaming services and the Pro Era rapper recently celebrated the project’s six-year anniversary by bringing it to Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, and Google Play.
