Last week, Ango (LuckyMe) & Druture (Grizzly) presented themselves to the world as the production duo LYK (Let You Know) with an EP entitled ‘LEAK.’ It didn’t take long for Chicago’s drill scene ambassadors (and Chop Squad kings) Johnny May Cash and YB to pick up on the influence and deliver a brand new take on LYK’s “Up All Night.” No stranger to putting down his own anthemic street hooks (see French Montana’s “Paranoid” and Young Chop’s “Never Gonna Change“) Johnny May Cash re-interprets the original hook in his signature style alongside some triumphant bars from YB. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump.
LYK came to life when LuckyMe singer/producer Ango remixed “Purple City Fashion Week” for Druture’s‘Uh Oh!’ E.P. on Sinden’s Grizzly imprint last fall. A couple Montreal-ers at heart, the duo now reside in Atlanta, Georgia (Druture) and Toronto, Canada (Ango), respectively. Their long distance relationship sustained on a mutual love of regional rap, K-pop, comic books and movie pitches. As new beats and friendly emails ensued, some LYK tracks snuck into festival sets as well as mixes by Victoria Kim for BBC 1 and Dark0. The duo also laced Awful Records’ Tommy Genesis debut mixtape, ‘World Vision‘ with a raunchy track entitled “Potato Head ft. Jay Worthy.”
