Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little about yourself?
Josh Simmons: Raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, music has been Simmons’ backbone since he can remember. He picked up the sticks and started playing the drums at 4 years old.
Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry?
Josh Simmons: Professionally 4 years but been doing music since I was 4 years old.
Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place?
Josh Simmons: My passion for music transitioned into freestyle rapping with my friends and older brother. By the time I was in high school, I started making music and formed the creative collective ColDer-Sac (CDS) with a few of my closest friends.
Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your latest single?
Josh Simmons: On my latest single “Pressure,” I made a dark yet playful song with catchy hooks and adlibs. I tried making a flow that seamlessly floats to the beat, creating the ideal soundtrack for any
club or house party.
Getmybuzzup: Who are your inspirations in the music industry?
Josh Simmons: Missy Elliot, Kanye West, and Mac Miller to even athletes such as Mike Tyson, Keland Simmons & Kobe Bryant.
Getmybuzzup: How do you go about writing and producing a song and what is your
Josh Simmons: I really just let the music guide me… I always start off with the beat , I freestyle/harmonize over the track until I get a vibe or feel from it. Once I get into a flow, I just start writing or just hop on the mic, and then go from there.
Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?
Josh Simmons: As cliche as it may sound, just stay true to you even on those dark nights you gotta lock in to get them 10,000 hours. You gotta know mentally that nothing can block you from your dream. It’s gonna be tough but it’s all gonna be worth it in the end.
Getmybuzzup: Will you be collaborating with any other artists in the future?
Josh Simmons: Man, to be honest there’s a lot of artists I would love to collaborate with… such as Timbaland, Smino, Brent Fiyaz, & Roddy Rich just to name a few.
Getmybuzzup: Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the
lyrical flow and content?
Josh Simmons: Both
Getmybuzzup: What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example:
Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc..)
Josh Simmons: Just reaching as many fans as possible.
Getmybuzzup: Who have been some of your favorite artists that you’ve been able to work
Josh Simmons: Opening up for Rick Ross @ Trill Grill Fest in Washington, D.C That whole experience is something I won’t forget.
Getmybuzzup: How do you feel about the current state of music?
Josh Simmons: Honestly, I feel like right now we’re in a transitional period in the rap game. People are getting tired of artists not talking about anything, a substance in music is starting to come back.
Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as music?
Josh Simmons: To just be myself and create music that represents me.
Getmybuzzup: Who would you say your music relates to the most?
Josh Simmons: My generation!
Getmybuzzup: What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)
Josh Simmons: I just stay true to myself, there can never be another me….simple as that!
Getmybuzzup: When you’re not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
Josh Simmons: Chill and do normal stuff a 21-year-old would do lol!

Josh Simmons: Timbaland
Getmybuzzup: What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?
Josh Simmons: Meeting Nipsey Hussle and winning a competition with him as the judge.
Getmybuzzup: What is your dream venue to perform at?
Josh Simmons: MSG
Getmybuzzup: When performing live what are some of the things you do to get the crowd involved?
Josh Simmons: Tell them to turn up and let me hear them make some noise.
