Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little about yourself?

Kethy Leah: Catherine Leah, better known by Kethy Leah (Mexico City, August 07, 1987) Anglo Mexican singer-songwriter, psychologist, dog lover and entrepreneur. I´ve been interested in the arts since I was very young. Upon entering high school I began to study acting at Casa Azul in Mexico City and began to participate in role plays. Later, I entered the Psychology faculty where I specialized in Human Development, since it has always been important to me to contribute my knowledge in all humanistic branches. One year and a little bit more I moved to Sweden where I began the interest in sharing with the world my great passion for music.

Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry?

Kethy Leah: In my imagination I’ve been my whole life in the music industry but in real life I started 5 months ago in Sweden, before I wasn’t brave enough to sing in front of a crowd (laughs in Spanish) JAJAJAJA

Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place?

Kethy Leah: I met Filip Krvavac, producer from Serbia in Malmö, who I believe he shared the little secrets in creativity and tricks that are working for the best musicians he has discovered.

Getmybuzzup: What’s it like living in Sweden?

Kethy Leah: It is being an amazing experience because this place has the most amazing nature I’ve ever seen this is the place where I found my inspiration and could make my dreams come true in many ways, especially in the music industry.

Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your sound?

Kethy Leah: I think my sound is quite unique, fresh and alternative inspired in my warm Latina blood which gives it a tropical touch. My music is focused in Latin music pop lovers mixed between retro and modern.

Getmybuzzup: Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

Kethy Leah: For me someone that has been a big role model in the music industry is Madonna since I was 5, anyone who´s followed her career knows that anything is possible, to be insanely creative whenever they like. But I must say my dad has been my biggest inspiration because he has encouraged me to always take chances and never be afraid to try new things in my life. Hi dad if you read this: I LOVE you and Madonna if you read this let´s have a drink!!

Getmybuzzup: How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?

Kethy Leah: It can come at any time any day, any minute. Most of the times happens when it´s less expected. I just inspire in my life experiences, memories, opinions and emotions which is my richest resource and my perspective is what will ultimately make my song unique. Keeping a list of things that happened to me and emotions that go through I will always give a wealth of material to draw on. Once I was in the lou and got inspired and started writing on the toilet paper. Oops!

Getmybuzzup: What are you currently working on?

Kethy Leah: I´m currently working on my summer body after Christmas (I guess all of you know what I’m talking about…) plus I’m focused in new music projects which I believe they will change perspective in modern minds.

Getmybuzzup: What is the concept behind your latest song “A Veces En Mi Vida”?

Kethy Leah: Well… I’m a mess and this song pretty much talks about those situations. For me It’s essential to know whether my level of assertiveness is optimal. To be assured that the way I stand up for myself is likely to produce the desired results, I have the need to feel confident in how I address to others. For obvious reasons my goal is to get people to respond favorably to what I want and need. And let´s be honest, that´s what everybody wants but they just don´t say it.

Getmybuzzup: Any plans on touring to promote your latest project?

Kethy Leah: First of all we´re planning to promote in Scandinavia and then in Latin America and if you invite me I will for sure go to the US and grab a huge hamburger and an extra large shake (I guess I Won’t get my summer body after all…)

Getmybuzzup: What did you buy with your first check off music?

Kethy Leah: I´m investing in new music projects and I also got a dishwasher, got enough of doing the dishes by hand!

Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?

Kethy Leah: Just being honest and never pretend something I´m not, keep myself genuine.

Getmybuzzup: Will you be collaborating with any other artists on this project or in the future?

Kethy Leah: I collaborated with Malcolm Wiss which is a very talented star from Sweden part of the team with Filip Krvavac. Such an honor!

Getmybuzzup: Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?

Kethy Leah: I believe that the sensation of the music should leaves me a warm feeling in my chest knowing everything was right merging beats and lyrics together. It´s one of the best feelings I´ve had and I only feel it when I combine both. You don´t think about music; for me, as creator, it´s just feelings. When start producing, is when we put a bit of a brain, not just your heart.

Getmybuzzup: What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc..)

Kethy Leah: We all know that there’s always something to improve, right? But now I’m very focused in promoting my songs, would be awesome to make them sound around the world.

Getmybuzzup: What’s your all-time favorite song?

Kethy Leah: I have many but one inspirational song since a long time ago is Just Arround the Corner from Cock Robin. The melody is so sweet with a clean sound I adore from the best music era.

Getmybuzzup: In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

Kethy Leah: I admire a lot Belanova because they broke the stereotypes of electropop and urban latin music making a great mix with amazing lyrics which makes you chill your skin.

Getmybuzzup: How do you feel about the current state of music?

Kethy Leah: This couple of years I changed a lot, there are new artists who found the inspiration in 70´s and 80´s with modern production and that really does makes me happy.

Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as music?

Kethy Leah: My main goal is to be happy therefore, inspire people to be independent and knowing there is hope to make great music.

Getmybuzzup: If you could work with any producer who would it be?

Kethy Leah: Prince of course! 😀

Getmybuzzup: What’s the name of the last book you read and by whom?

Kethy Leah: Ana Karenina, León Tolstoi highly recommended for everyone who believes in gender equality, and for those who don’t go to the doctor.

Getmybuzzup: What can we expect from you in the future?

Kethy Leah: To change human expressions and culture music industry than we can find in the last one thousand years.

Getmybuzzup: Anything else you wanna add?

Kethy Leah: I enjoy making my songs play with my friends and my surrounds when they don´t know who is singing… It´s actually very funny to see how they react!! Hahaha.
