Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry?
Kimia Penton: I’ve been writing and producing music for fifteen years now.
Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your latest single “Chameleon” remix?
Kimia Penton: Chameleon is a song about self-love and authenticity. It’s a very personal song for me and I’m passionate about encouraging others to pursue their goals and make their own life choices. The remix takes my acoustic version of the song and adds a whole new energy with hip hop production! I love it.
Getmybuzzup: What was it like working with Prynce P and Cloak Beats on the single?
Kimia Penton: I had a blast working with P and Cloak beats! The energy and passion they both brought to the project was amazing. Some deep friendships have been formed and we’re all excited about sharing this message!
Getmybuzzup: How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?
Kimia Penton: I get my song ideas when something inspires me personally. I write the lyrics and melody at the same time in that moment of inspiration. I then take time to work on the songwriting craft and re-write and tweak the composition until I’m pleased with it. It’s a labor of love!
Getmybuzzup: When did you start playing the violin?
Kimia Penton: I started playing the violin in first grade and I actually still play the same acoustic violin that my dad bought for me when I was ten years old. I was very fortunate to be at a school with a fantastic music program. I don’t know what I would have done without music as an outlet.
Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?
Kimia Penton: Trust your gut when it comes to your music and never let anyone else define your sound or your brand.
Getmybuzzup: Name an artist that you would love to work with?
Kimia Penton: I would absolutely love to work with Ryan Tedder, Alison Krauss, or Alicia Keys.

Kimia Penton: Probably the lyrical content and gentle and soothing musical vibe.
Getmybuzzup: What was the last album you listened to?
Kimia Penton: I actually just went back and listened to Corinne Bailey Rae’s self-titled album. I love her voice and melodies!
Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as music?
Kimia Penton: Contributing music with a message that inspires and encourages listeners. Life is hectic and music is a powerful tool for healing and inspiration.
Getmybuzzup: When you’re not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
