Lanz Pierce delivers LOS CITY, her first full length LP following her two previous EP’s “Point Of No Return” & “Editors Eye.” The album title was coined to represent her influences split between Los Angeles and New York City that have both shaped her perspective and pen. Pierce collaborated with new producers on LOS CTY to define a sound all her own. The album’s strong lyrical narrative touches on the challenges of a 20 something dealing with life’s highs and lows that make it easy to relate to. On Love & Loathing  Lanz rhymes, “I need a little bit of nostalgia, to go with all this new world wave. Some Lauryn Hill, to keep me chill, on my 21 Savage rage.”  LOS CITY includes an international twist, a feature from London’s Funky House Afrobeats pioneer (Donae’O)  & additional production from U.K female DJ FlavaD. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump.

Noteworthy tracks include, Way too Far (Jahaan Sweet), Cinematic (Swim Team), Win (FlavaD), and Piano (Donae’O).  Lanz has previously worked with Hip-Hop standouts like, Nottz, Nate Foxx, Donnie Trumpet, Chase N. Cashe, Play Picasso etc.

“Ghost,”  was the first single off the project & is the most well known song from Lanz thus far. Pierce showed off her acting skills in the music video. A plot that concluded with a slain lover lying road side in the Hollywood Hills. Listeners get more intimate moments from the album’s skits. On Prepaid Calls, we hear a personal moment between Lanz & an incarcerated family member. “Only One” showcases Lanz over a stripped down piano driven track, “All those books i had read, about women empowerment, how pussy is power. That proud feelin that we get,  knowin pussy is ours.” Additional vocals & production by Rachel Lehcar, a young R&B singer whom Lanz discovered. LOS CITY,  is the latest release from her growing indie label INNOVATORS & AVIATORS.
The young veteran has a resume that includes being signed by Jimmy Iovine at the age of 17 to Interscope records. She has worked closely with the legendary composer Nile Rogers, and previous appearances include opening for Snoop Dogg and freestyle battles on Sway In the Morning.  No longer flying under the radar, Lanz says “LOS CITY, is my most complete body of work.”  Also, sharing the same name as the album, is her hoodie collection which premiered in July by MILK Studios.” Pierce says “I’m a curator. Music, aesthetics, lifestyle, they all go hand in hand. I wanted to re-create the experience i loved as a kid of unwrapping an album and thumbing through the art work.”  Every download of LOS CITY includes a digital booklet, photography styled and directed by Lanz Pierce.
