Following the release of buzzy new summer single “Treadmill,” buzzing newcomer Atlanta rapper LightSkinKeisha follows up with music video, released exclusively via The FADER. The track maintains this palpable momentum and places her on a rapid upward trajectory. Produced by frequent collaborator Wili Hendrixs, the track, alongside fellow bops “Believe Dat” and “Weather”, showcases her clever wordplay and knack for hooks. It’s also delightfully hashtaggable highlighted by her loud lyricism. Enjoy this video stream below after the jump and please share this with friends.
The “Treadmill” and “Believe Dat” will be featured on LightSkinKeisha’s debut Honey Period project, set to drop this summer. LightSkinKeisha has quietly risen to prominence online fueled by millions of streams, larger-than-life charisma, and bulletproof bars. “When you think of a treadmill, you think of ‘running it’,” the Atlanta rapper exclaims. “I’m putting it up and running sh*t. You’ve got to be on the move. ‘Treadmill’ is a fun song. People are going to feel it. It’s going to make them dance and feel good. When those headphones go over my ears, I get in my zone.”
LightSkinKeisha doesn’t hold anything back — simply put. After one listen to her razor-sharp rhymes and unfiltered lyrics, it’s nearly impossible to imagine the Decatur-born and Atlanta-based rapper ever biting her tongue. Raised by a single mom, and one of eight kids, she always let her voice be heard. In 2017, her lifelong passion for music unassumingly turned professional as she shared short clips online on the ‘Gram. Soon after, she uploaded “Weather” to Soundcloud and generated a growing buzz. Produced by close friend and regular collaborator Wili Hendrixs, it put up impressive numbers independently, cracking close to 2 million streams for its hilarious companion video. Most importantly, it shined a glaring spotlight on the MC’s knack for hummable hooks and knockout bars.
