Lil Uzi Vert has is one of the most successful artists to emerge from the soundcloud era of rappers. He was a part of a shift in Hip Hop that took place midway through the 2010s, where the sonics of music were changing, the image of rappers was evolving and flows *sounded much different than they had in the previous 5 years. In 2020, many of the rappers who were a part of that shift have come and gone, but Uzi, has become one of the biggest artists in music. And in an era of constant content, social media bombardment, and fans who seem to be quick to forget all that you’ve accomplished in exchange for whatever you’ve done most recently, the pressure of staying visible gets to most artists. Uzi took a different route and ignored this pressure. After selling millions of records, getting a Grammy nomination, platinum plaques and working with the biggest artists in the game, Uzi decided to take a step back from the spotlight.
But after 2 long years of fans impatiently waiting for him to drop his highly anticipated Eternal Atake (Uh-Take) album, the project was finally released in 2020. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and sold nearly 300,000 copies in its first week. Those numbers put him in an elite category of sales, and proved that he could move on his own time. But gaining superstar status and earning the trust of a rabid fanbase is a long road that doesn’t happen overnight, and of course, Lil Uzi’s journey was no different. This is The Lil Uzi Vert Story.
