Murder Rap

By Jack Barnes

This week marks the 20th anniversary of the murder of Tupac Shakur, who many consider the greatest rap artist of all time. He was shot in Las Vegas on September 7th, 1996, and died from his wounds six days later on the 13th. Enjoy this video stream below after the jump.
The filmmakers of “Murder Rap: Inside the Biggie and Tupac Murders,” which released earlier this year, felt that this 20th anniversary was the best moment to make this story public for the whole world to see. Now, for the first time, they’ve released a free clip from the film that shows in detail how the shooting of Tupac went down that fateful night, as told by an alleged Compton gang member who claimed to have been riding with the shooter:

Murder Rap is the first and only documentary to gain full access to the case files, and most importantly, a taped confession made to a federal task force in 2008. Upon its release this year, it became the #1 documentary on iTunes and #2 on Google Play. It has also aired in the US on Reelz Channel, on the UK’s Channel 4, and more around the world.

“The most plausible explanation yet for why two great artists were taken from their families, friends, and from us, their devoted listeners” – HipHopDX

“U wanna know the truth – watch this” – Daz Dillinger, Tha Dogg Pound

“#FinallyTheTruth” – DJ Daryl, Producer of Tupac’s ‘Keep Ya Head Up’

“Murder Rap: Inside The Biggie & Tupac Murders” is available on VOD across major digital platforms in the USA and internationally. Produced and directed by Mike Dorsey, Murder Rap is the shocking inside story of the Biggie and Tupac murder investigation laid bare, using unseen police files, taped confessions never before shown on film, and interviews with lead detective Greg Kading and other witnesses.

Two of the most notorious unsolved cases in the history of American crime – the murders of renowned rap stars Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls – have been the subject of exhaustive investigations, relentless speculation, and a web of conspiracy theories and dark secrets. Now, for the first time, the true story behind these sensational cases is uncovered in Murder Rap. This is the riveting account of the task force that finally exposed the shocking truth behind the death of these two rap music icons.

Producer/Director Mike Dorsey says: “I have long been a student of both Hollywood history and true crime, and I am fascinated when the two intersect. The film is an unprecedented inside look at the investigation into a pair of high-profile celebrity murders, loaded with 50 police documents, 10 taped witness interviews, and dozens of photos and videos from the case files.”

September 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Tupac Shakur. The 20th anniversary of the death of Biggie Smalls will follow only 6 months later.
