Maui ARN Talks New Single “Feelings Attached” & More! [Interview]

Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little about yourself?

Maui ARN: YERRRRRRRRR Wassup I’m Maui ARN an artist from Long Island unlike any artist ever! First off, everything I do is litty and more importantly, I’m always having fun and sharing that vibe everywhere I go. I’m pretty diverse so I wouldn’t say I make just rap or R&B but I’m making hits! Tap in and see for yourself what me and Maui Nation got going on. YA DIGGG!

Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry?

Maui ARN: I’ve been in the industry for like a year plus, but I’ve been making music for longer.

Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place?

Maui ARN: I started playing around with music in high school. My bro OTHEPRO was making beats and playing them for all of us, we just started freestyling to them till we got better.  Then we started making songs together and now we’re here.

Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your latest single “Feelings Attached”?

Maui ARN: To me it’s a drama. It’s definitely a true story you’ll see or hear about one way or another.

Maui ARN Talks New Single "Feelings Attached" & More! [Interview]Getmybuzzup: Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

Maui ARN: Personally, I don’t know anyone’s personal life in the industry, but as far as musical inspiration I would say Kendrick Lamar, Future, Pharrell, Ne-yo, Drake, Offset, Travis Scott and The Weeknd.

Getmybuzzup: How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?

Maui ARN: It starts with the beat and how I’m feeling at the moment in life. After that, I pretty much say the first few things that come to mind and continue transferring my vibe lol (going into greater detail).

Getmybuzzup: What is the concept behind your forthcoming project “Don’t Sleep On Me”?

Maui ARN: For Don’t Sleep On Me, I wanted to remind myself than show everyone else how great I always knew I was. How different I do things and carry myself and that I should never be counted out or slept on.

Getmybuzzup: Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?

Maui ARN: Those conversations are happening, we’re in the process of putting it together.

Getmybuzzup: What did you buy with your first check off music?

Maui ARN: Not a damn thing.

Getmybuzzup: What are must-haves when you’re in the studio working?

Maui ARN: Drinks and good energy.

Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?

Maui ARN: Keep your personal and business life separate.

Getmybuzzup: Will you be collaborating with any other artists on this forthcoming project or in the future?

Maui ARN: YUP! I’m in it for the quality of the music and there are so many talented artists out there that I would love to see what we can put together.

Getmybuzzup: Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?

Maui ARN: I feel like different people will love it for different reasons so I put my all into beat selection, lyrics, and melodies. I think it’s all enjoyed as a collective.

Getmybuzzup: What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc..)

Maui ARN: Those areas I’m keeping to myself. I’m very aware of them and working on improving them as I progress.

Getmybuzzup: What’s your all-time favorite song?

Maui ARN: I can’t say I have one, there’s too many. I could do a My Top Ten situation though.

Getmybuzzup: What was the last album you listened to?

Maui ARN: The last album I’ve listened too was S.I.P. Nipsey Hussle’s  Victory Lap.

Getmybuzzup: In your opinion, who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

Maui ARN: I would give that to Nipsey Hussle because he felt like a real person through the screen. You felt like you knew him and he was giving us life pointers whenever he could, spreading the right energy. Also, he owned his masters and became a mogul in real estate. I learned from his interviews.

Getmybuzzup: Who have been some of your favorite artists that you’ve been able to work with?

Maui ARN: Dapperdon E, Fleecapo, and S-Clive.

Getmybuzzup: How do you feel about the current state of music?

Maui ARN: It’s evolving like it’s always been doing and will continue to do. There’s not a certain way to feel about it because you’re going to listen to what you like regardless. There’s music out that’s not for me personally but maybe for the next individual, then the next week another artist could drop something that I’ll have on repeat; so it is what it is.

Getmybuzzup: Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?

Maui ARN: iHeartheart Radio Awards, The BET Awards, and The Grammy Awards.

Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as music?

Maui ARN: To get better at my craft and continue to grow with time. Once I continue to do that I’ll be able to so much more.

Getmybuzzup: Who would you say your music relates to the most?

Maui ARN: Everyone. I’m pretty diverse.

Getmybuzzup: What separates you from other artists? (What makes you different?)

Maui ARN: Me being me. I’m different from every artist out. I take chances and I love what I do. I may rap, sing or both.

Getmybuzzup: When you’re not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?

Maui ARN: Make money and enjoy my life. I’m spontaneous so I could easily just go anywhere to experience something new. I like adventure, new experiences, definitely food and watching basketball.

Getmybuzzup: If you could work with any producer who would it be?

Maui ARN: Noah “40” Shebib and Wheezy.

Getmybuzzup: What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?

Maui ARN: Performing at this mansion in Austin, TX it was crazy and they showed mad love.

Getmybuzzup: What is your dream venue to perform at?

Maui ARN: First it’s Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale [where I partly grew up] and Madison Square Garden. I gotta hit that stage!

Getmybuzzup: What artist music are you currently a fan of?

Maui ARN: Currently, I’ve been listening to DaBaby. I like his music and his demeanor.

Getmybuzzup: When performing live what are some of the things you do to get the crowd involved?

Maui ARN: Y’all want me to give away my sauce huh [lmao]? I just turn them into my hype men when they rocking with me, I almost become there’s.

Getmybuzzup: When performing live and the crowd is singing along how does that energy make you feel?

Maui ARN: Like I can’t be stopped and that I should never stop. I gotta keep the hustle up!

Getmybuzzup: What’s the name of the last book you read and by whom?

Maui ARN: The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John Mann.
