The Royal Family of Reggae, Morgan Heritage, have teamed up with Complex to exclusively premiere the ‘behind the scenes’ video for their forthcoming album Strictly Roots, available now: http://bit.ly/1KkbQuj
Having premiered the video to their single “Perform And Done” with Billboard, and their second single “So Amazing” with Yahoo! Music earlier this year, this exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ footage provides an in-depth insight into the message behind the hotly anticipated new album Strictly Roots.
Percussionist and vocalist Mojo Morgan explains that “The Strictly Roots EPK offers our audience an in depth view of the album without hearing it. It brings you closer to the concept of the album and gives you a full overview of the message we are conveying through the music. Strictly Roots embodies the global growth of Reggae music today and the EPK takes you through the journey of how we’ve arrived to this point in our career.”
The album has already reached #1 on the US iTunes Reggae Chart and #1 on the Billboard Reggae Chart. The album features a wide variety of guest performers, including platinum-selling dancehall phenomenon Shaggy, American reggae and R&B vocalist J Boog, Eric Rachmany of Rebelution, Bobby Lee of Grammy-nominated SOJA and fresh Jamaican reggae sensation, Chronixx.
The children of legendary reggae artist Denroy Morgan, siblings Peetah Morgan (vocals), Una Morgan (keyboard/vocals),Gramps Morgan (keyboard/vocals), Lukes Morgan (rhythm guitar) and Mr. Mojo Morgan (percussion/vocals), are undoubtedly one of contemporary reggae’s most powerful forces on the global stage. The group have also celebrated their musical heritage with collaborations with third generation ambassadors from the Morgan and Marley families, Jemere Morgan and Jo Mersa Marley.
In order to release Strictly Roots, the group decided to start their own record label, and the album marks their first independent release: an effort that Una Morgan hopes will be “an additional example for others to follow.”
Part of what makes this story so remarkable is the group’s commitment to causes they believe in: their current tour of North America sees them partner with Oxfam America, a global organization working to right the wrongs of poverty, hunger, and injustice, who will be on site for select shows.
Throughout 2015, Morgan Heritage will be touring in support of Strictly Roots, available now. Purchase Strictly Roots on iTunes, here: http://apple.co/1zzk8II.
