Respected music industry veteran Murs is back with a brand new single appropriately titled “Powerful.”
The multi-talented rapper, promoter and artist recently expanded his reach even further by leading video discussions on hip-hop topics for HipHopDX on their “DXBreakdown” segment. Enjoy this video stream below after the jump.

One segment in particular stood out to Murs as an MC, a debate on the differences between “real” and “fake” hip-hop that ignited a spirited conversation amongst viewers. With countless albums to his name and decades in the game, Murs felt the best way to further elaborate would be on the microphone.
“Lyrically, this song is me expounding on my “Real Hip Hop vs. Fake Hip Hop” breakdown from HipHopDX,” Murs said. “To my surprise, it went viral with more than one million views in about a month. I had so many comments from haters and fans, I decided it would we best to respond to them all here.”
Set over a smooth Seven production dripping in classic hip-hop nostalgia and featuring Propaganda, Murs sets the record straight with his usual barrage of bars and an impressive knowledge of the culture. It formed the perfect setting for the topic at hand, just as they envisioned.
“Seven is a fan of my work with 9th Wonder and how I sound over the traditional boom bap sample based tracks,” Murs explained.
”Even though we can’t sample at Strange Music, he was still able to get creative and cook up a banger with that exact vibe. I was pleasantly amazed!”
