Federal prosecutors have granted immunity to David Pecker, publisher of the National Enquirer and a close friend of President Trump, according to sources familiar with the matter. This is part of the case against Michael Cohen, Trump’s ex-lawyer who pleaded guilty this week to illegal campaign violations for paying hush money to two women alleging affairs with Trump. During the 2016 election, Pecker and the newspaper reportedly bought rights to damaging stories about the then-presidential candidate and never published them. NBC chief White House correspondent Hallie Jackson reports for TODAY.
