By Jack Barnes

Platinum-certified Atlanta R&B singer and songwriter Lloyd unveils his new single “Caramel” at all DSPs today. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump and please share this with friends.

“Caramel” stands out as a sticky, fun, and sexy anthem highlighted by Roger Troutman-style talkbox transmissions and a hummable slow-drip beat. Over this seductive backdrop, Lloyd’s signature falsetto instantly captivates while he belts out the strikingly soulful hook. It’s another unshakable anthem from this powerhouse performer.

Paving the way for more new music, “Caramel” precedes the release of his anxiously awaited forthcoming fifth full-length, TRU—arriving in stores and online August 31 via Young Goldie Music/EMPIRE. Pre-order it HERE and receive an instant grat download of “Caramel.”

Just this past weekend, Lloyd delivered a jaw-dropping performance at Essence Fest. It upholds his reputation as a powerful presence on stage. On Saturday, EMPIRE presented Lloyd’s NOLA “Homecoming” fan meet & greet sponsored by Miller High Life and Jack Daniels. Celebrities PJ Morton, Big K.R.I.T, MAJOR. and more came out to celebrate with Lloyd. Guests were treated to a authentic New Orleans crawfish boil, a surprise performance and a platinum plaque presentation for his hit single “TRU” by EMPIRE CEO Ghazi Shami. What’s more, Lloyd introduced us to his beautiful new baby boy, River.

TRU will undoubtedly be the word for R&B in 2018.

After a five-year hiatus, Lloyd made a triumphant comeback with the 2016 single “Tru.” Not only did it amass 38.8 million Spotify streams, but it also garnered a platinum certification from the RIAA. His ensuing Tru EP notched widespread critical acclaim from The Fader, Billboard, and many more and spawned hits such as “Heavenly Body” [feat. Rick Ross] and “Holding” [feat. Lil Wayne]. That’s just the latest chapter. Over the past decade-plus, his voice has graced countless chart-topping smashes, including “Southside” [feat. Ashanti], “You,” “Get It Shawty,”and Young Money’s “BedRock,” among others.
