“If you ain’t got no haters, like, you just not doing shit. You not doing nothing at all.” Texas native Splurge might have emerged from a precarious background, but his cheerful, bouncy spirit suggests that he’s been able to brush it all off quite effortlessly. So much so, that he only started to rap “on some funny sh*t.”
“Two years ago… I was finna throw a party. If I tell someone come perform, they gonna turn my sh*t up. I’m finna get on the song too then! Turn my own sh*t up!” Not long afterwards, Splurge’s partner, Huncho, hooked him up with some studio time, and the rest is history. Records like “Backwoods” and “Beat By Jeff” garnered Splurge an unmistakable buzz, as did a viral video of Lil Uzi Vert dancing to his music, and now that he’s poised to strike a national audience, he’s added just the right amount of serious to his formula.
“It’s gonna make you listen. F*ck the hook. For what?” he says. “I’m gonna tell you something different every time. It feels good, when somebody know who you is.”
