Philthy Rich – “Money In The Trap” (feat. Rockie Fresh, Casey Veggies & Fat Trel) [Audio]

Philthy Rich

By Jack Barnes

A notoriously hard worker from East Oakland’s Seminary neighborhood, who came to prominence around the same time as trap music did, it’s clear to anyone familiar with Philthy Rich that he hasMoney In The Trap. His latest single off the upcoming Hood Rich 4, premiered today by Mass Appeal, is an affirmation of that fact. Philthy employs his trademark laid back delivery to let us know just how he earned his wealth and what he has spent it on over the Zaytoven produced trap banger.  Always networking, Philthy is joined by some of the realest rappers from across the country: Los Angeles’ Casey Veggies, Chicago’s Rockie Fresh, and D.C.’s Fat Trel. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump.

With trap gaining mainstream popularity, the trap originators have opened up the meaning of the word to be more inclusive. “This is motivation music for anyone doing their 9-5, legitimately trapping, or anyone making money. Trapping has transcended its original definition of selling drugs to meaning making money anyhow, anywhere, period. You could be working at McDonalds, trapping. You could be throwing newspapers at people’s doorsteps at 6 in the morning, trapping. You could be a nurse. At the end of the day, you’re making money too,” Philthy explained.  “Money In The Trap” follows up the video for  “Fuck I Look Like” ft. Kash Doll,  which premiered on The FADER earlier this week. Hood Rich 4 also features appearances by  Soulja Boy, Jim Jones, Birdman, B.o.B, G. Herbo, Shy Glizzy, Young Dolph, Sauce Walka, and Sosamann.

This album is the culmination of a busy year for Philthy.  In July, XXL premiered, “59 To 79” a piano-laden trap banger featuring G Herbo. “59 to 79” followed the Zaytoven-produced cut “Numbers” and the remix to “Broke Boy,” which features a long guest list of buzzing artists. Earlier, Complex premiered “Barely Know My Name” which features Lil B, Mistah F.A.B., Mozzy and Celly Ru. In the lead up to January’s Real N*ggas Back in $tyle, the first in a series of three albums with the same title, Philthy Rich shared a series of singles starting withthe IAMSU-assisted money-making anthem “Make A Living,” which gained more than one million Soundcloud streams. Philthy Rich’s latest solo project, SemCity MoneyMan 4, available for streaming on Soundcloud and for purchase on iTunes.
