Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little about yourself?
Ppaxtonn: I’m PPAXT0NN and I’m 20 years old with a huge passion for music. Ever since I was a kid, I knew that this is what I wanted to do in life. My first ever rap song I heard was Eminem’s song “Stan” and that kickstarted me right away. I started writing my own raps at around the age of 9 or 10. Thoughtout my last two years of highschool I’d make music with my homies, either just for fun or to diss other highschool rappers. (I’m undefeated)
Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry?
Ppaxtonn: Not so much in the industry, but I’ve been recording and releasing music for 3-4 years now.
Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place?
Ppaxtonn: I got into actually recording myself around the time a highschool rapper came about. I wanted to really prove myself, so I wanted to diss him. No beef, just to show him and others what I can do.
Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your sound?
Ppaxtonn: Originally, my sound was just straight rap. (New school and Old school) More recently, I’ve been experimenting with making other genres such as R&B, Rock, Alternative Rock, Indie and of course Rap. I wouldn’t say I sound like anyone else.
Getmybuzzup: Who are your inspirations in the music industry?
Ppaxtonn: My biggest inspirations are definitely Eminem and XXXTENTACION. Eminem for my rap, and XXXTENTACION for basically everything else. I’ve also been inspired by artists such as Ski Mask the Slump God, Meek Mill, 50 Cent, Mobb Deep, NBA YoungBoy, Lil Wayne, G Herbo, Mac Miller, Token, Royce da 5’9, Joyner, Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick and the list could go on and on all day.
Getmybuzzup: How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?
Ppaxtonn: I obviously go to find a beat or get my producer to make one. I listen for the different patterns which makes so many flows just pop into my head. I lay out the beat to see where I’m putting the chorus, the verses, bridge and so on. From there I just kinda roll with it and start writing.
Getmybuzzup: What are you currently working on?
Ppaxtonn: At the moment, I have about 3 rap songs recorded and we are engineering them. I have 2 R&B songs recorded and ready to go. A few indie songs recorded and ready. For unrecorded songs, I have about 10 ready for the studio. (Mixed genres)
Getmybuzzup: What is the concept behind your latest project?
Ppaxtonn: For my latest project, the concept was really just to preview my talents to people and show what I can do for future reference.
Getmybuzzup: Any plans on touring to promote your latest project?
Ppaxtonn: Not right now, I’m just starting to get my feet in the door with promotions to get my music heard by more people before I do a tour. But one day down the road I’m 100% doing a tour.
Getmybuzzup: What did you buy with your first check off music?
Ppaxtonn: Haven’t gotten one yet, however I will be getting one in a few weeks. I’m going to be putting it all back into music to promote and start my career up.
Getmybuzzup: What are must haves when your in the studio working?
Ppaxtonn: I always have to turn off the lights in the booth so I can go full out on a track. Its more or less a personal preference. Of course, you always need to have an engineer that is good at what he or she does especially for the sound you’re trying to get on the song. Thankfully, my engineer is great at getting the different sounds I’m trying to show.
Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?
Ppaxtonn: Always, and I cannot stress it enough, ALWAYS, have positive energy and never give up. If you give up, even for a day, you lose all momentum you’ve been building up.
Getmybuzzup: Will you be collaborating with any other artists on this project or in the future?
Ppaxtonn: No collabs on this project, in the future I’m going to get a few local collabs on a song and eventually a whole cypher.
Getmybuzzup: Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?
Ppaxtonn: Both, I’m very picky with beats. I want everyone to enjoy it for what they prefer, if its a good beat they want, a good beat is what they’ll get. If they want complex rhyme schemes and constant metaphors, they will be getting that as well.
Getmybuzzup: What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc..)
Ppaxtonn: Starting out, I need to improve on many things. Mostly, getting used to performing on stage and my voice. As well as the business side of things.
Getmybuzzup: What’s your all-time favorite song?
Ppaxtonn: That’s hard for me to just pick one. It would have to be “The Ringer” by Eminem. Maybe its because its new, I don’t know but that track is hard.
Getmybuzzup: In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?
Ppaxtonn: Rap is filled with influential artists, but I have to say Eminem, Tupac, Biggie, Jay and Wayne.
Getmybuzzup: Who have been some of your favorite artists that youve been able to work with?
Ppaxtonn: Sadly, none yet. So I’ll talk about who I want to work with. I’d love to kill a song with Em, that be a lot of pressure though. Getting on a song with Ski Mask would be pretty dope too.
Getmybuzzup: How do you feel about the current state of music?
Ppaxtonn: It sucks, most of the top selling artists have little to no talent at all. They are just better with business which, I can’t be mad at.
Getmybuzzup: Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?
Ppaxtonn: The Grammys would be an experience. Same with MTV Awards.
Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as music?
Ppaxtonn: My main goal right now would have to be getting enough money to be financially stable.
Getmybuzzup: Who would you say your music relates to the most?
Ppaxtonn: I feel like my music relates to many, male or female, old or young. I have many different types of music under my belt which really spreads out who I can get to listen.
Getmybuzzup: What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)
Ppaxtonn: I’m always trying new ways to make me sound different on every song I put out. When I make my first mixtape, its going to have so many different genres on it. You’ll start off listening and feeling a wavy sad vibe, then go to the next song and feel anger and aggression.
Getmybuzzup: When your not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
Ppaxtonn: I’m always trying to write and learn. Studying, as boring as it is sometimes, it will very much help you in the future. When I’m not doing those things, I’m chilling with my bros or playing some games.
Getmybuzzup: If you could work with any producer who would it be?
Ppaxtonn: Ronny J, I love the distortion to the bass he uses and he always makes a track 5x better than it could be.
Getmybuzzup: Whats the biggest highlight of your career thus far?
Ppaxtonn: Reaching 1.5K views on one of my songs. I can’t wait until I can turn that into 15k
Getmybuzzup: What is your dream venue to perform at?
Ppaxtonn: Anywhere out of the US would be dope. But, that probably won’t happen for awhile.
Getmybuzzup: What artist music are you currently a fan of?
Ppaxtonn: XXXTENTACION, even after his passing his music just speaks to me in a way that no other artist could.
Getmybuzzup: When performing live what are some of the things you do to get the crowd involved?
Ppaxtonn: I haven’t preformed live yet. However, I would get them hyped up before I even start a song. I’d let them rap or sing along with me aswell.
Getmybuzzup: When performing and the crowd is singing along how does that energy make you feel?
Ppaxtonn: I’m sure its going to make me feel on top of the world. I love fan interactions.
Getmybuzzup: What can we expect from you in the future?
Ppaxtonn: A lot of good music for anyone to listen to. Many albums and mixtapes. Some merch for the fans. Hopefully a few good features.
Getmybuzzup: Anything else you wanna add?
Ppaxtonn: I really hope you all can enjoy my music, and maybe I can help you down the road some day if you’re going through some shit.
Getmybuzzup: Where can the fans check out for your music?
Ppaxtonn: SoundCloud, Spotify and Apple music. Just search PPAXT0NN (with a zero)
