Ralo

By Jack Barnes

Tearing through trap tracks with his signature caterwaul, ATL’s Ralo commands the respect of everyone in the Dirty South. Taking us on a tour through some of Atlanta’s most notorious neighborhoods, Ralo speaks on his hustle in Lil Cali & Pakistan,” his latest single. Lil Cali is the nickname for Oakland, a neighborhood in Atlanta, which is famous for its marijuana, while Pakistan is a nickname for The West End, home to a large Muslim population. Gliding over tinker-toy keyboards and swirling flutes, Ralo cleverly boasts about his wealth, his status, and his street cred: “I got more money than you and your daddy!” Featuring an appearance from Lil Baby, who ably trades bars with Ralo, “LIl Cali & Pakistan” is a compelling twist on the Ralo formula, imbuing braggadocio with pathos and emotional honesty. Premiered by Complex, “Lil Cali & Pakistan” is Ralo’s first new track since Summer 2017’s Ralo LaFlare. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump.

Hosted by Gucci ManeRalo LaFlare was Ralo’s most accomplished project yet. A hard-hitting and personal collection of tracks, the project explored the similarities and close relationship between Ralo and Gucci: Both were born on February 12th, and have shared many similar life experiences including growing up in poverty, spending time in prison, and standing trial for murder. Featuring appearances from heavy-hitters like Gucci, Young Thug, Young DolphLil DurkFetty WapOJ Da JuicemanSean Garrett, and with production from Cassius JaySuper MarioHonorable C-NoteWheezy, and more, Ralo LaFlare found Ralo creating a trap Mardi Gras, utilizing his extensive connections to the Atlanta underground to foster an atmosphere where the city’s top talents can thrive. The leader of Famerica, a community organization that he founded, Ralo is preparing to release more music later in 2017 and in early 2018.
