After linking with Gangsta Boo and providing us with the certified trunk rattler that is “Nextel Chirp” (Hypetrak premiere), Raven Sorvino is back to ridin’ clean on that Texas vibe with her latest single. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump.
Though now residing in LA (and splitting time in NY), Raven gets back to her Texas roots with “96 Fleetwood.” On the track, Raven collaborates with burgeoning r&b songstress, and Austin, Texas native, Mélat (who’s just coming off a show run withThundercat) for her signature lush vocals on the hook. With Raven behind the wheel and Mélat ridin’ shotgun, WoodysProduce‘s hard-hitting production puts you right in the back seat of the Caddy for the latest jam off of the Pretty Pink EP.
Says Raven of the song and collaboration: “WoodysProduce told me about Mélat a year or so ago. He did a remix with her and thought it would be a great idea if we worked together. He sent me this beat and I had the concept of this player memory when I was a kid, of my father driving Cadillacs through Texas. He’d wear suits and gold and a Rolex. So I titled it 96 Fleetwood. It’s dope because it’s a different zone for Mélat and myself in terms of production. Two boss chicks from Texas not taking no shit and we want them gold medals not rose pedals!!”
