By Jack Barnes

Jammcard launches the live video of Robin Thicke performing his hit “Magic” from their in demand, invite-only pop-up event, the JammJam. The Masked Singer star stunned attendees with a surprise performance at Jammcard’s event hosted at The Live House in Hollywood, CA. Jammcard paired Thicke with New Orleans 8-piece brass ensemble The Soul Rebels and his band, Black Daddy, for this special event. Robin and The Soul Rebels met at 6pm, day of the show, and performed the set just a few hours later. It was electric. The performance included covers of Michael Jackson’s classic “Rock With You” and Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together,” as well as Thicke’s  “Lost Without U” and a New Orleans brass style version of his hit “Blurred Lines” for the big finish. Throughout the show Thicke bounced between piano and mic, performing alongside his band, Black Daddy, under the musical direction of Larry Cox who he’s worked with for 19 years. The session also included the debut LA performance of rising female rapper, Chika, and LA’s power trio The Truth Band. Enjoy this video stream below after the jump and please share this with friends.

The JammJam is a regular event thrown by Jammcard that seeks to create freestyle and intimate live performances with the world’s leading musicians. At its core, Jammcard connects the professional music community by way of an invite-only, app-based social network for vetted pros. The app is responsible for assembling live bands for some of today’s biggest acts, such as Gwen Stefani, Zedd, Maren Morris, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Jason Derulo and Grace VanderWaal, among many others. Previous JammJams include takeovers of Tower Records and Capitol Records, and performances by Ty Dolla $ign, Terrace Martin, Cory Henry, Kamasi Washington, Judith Hill, Jeremy Renner, Ronald Bruner Jr., Devon “Stixx” Taylor and many more.

Jammcard’s community won the Gold award for Best Mobile App in Social Media at the tech industry’s W3 Awards and has earned the investment of cultural icon Quincy Jones.

Robin Thicke has established himself as one of the most respected singer-songwriters in soul and R&B music today. Born in Los Angeles, Robin Thicke taught himself to play piano at the age of 12 and by 16 was writing and producing songs for top R&B artists. At the age of 21, he had written and produced songs on over 20 gold and platinum albums including Michael Jackson, Marc Anthony, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, and others. One year later he signed with Jimmy Iovine and Interscope records. The musician and composer released his critically acclaimed debut album, A Beautiful World, in 2003 under the name Thicke. The collection was followed by a succession of five critically acclaimed gold and platinum-selling album releases. Robin’s sixth studio album, Blurred Lines, garnered three GRAMMY nominations in 2013. “Blurred Lines” scored the highest audience ever recorded and broke records by climbing to #1 on 5 radio charts simultaneously (Top 40, Rhythm, Urban, Hot AC & Urban AC) – the first time this has ever been done by an artist. Robin’s recent singles include the undeniably danceable pop record “Back Together” featuring Nicki Minaj, emotionally charged track “Deep” featuring Nas, and an R&B classic “Morning Sun”.
