Roger Federer urges respect for ball kids after Verdasco incident

Tennis pro Fernando Verdasco is being criticised for his harsh treatment of a ball boy who failed to bring him his sweaty towel fast enough during a match. The 34-year-old Spaniard, who was once ranked among the world’s top 10 male players, was filmed aggressively gesticulating at a ball boy to hurry up during last month’s Shenzhen Open in China. The incident has thrust tennis players’ attitudes towards the child volunteers into the spotlight and could prompt changes.
