Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little About yourself?
Shannon K.: I am a pop singer, I was born in India, brought up in London and I learned classical music from ABRSM. I had my debut single when I was 12.

Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place?
Shannon K.: Well my sister, Annabel loves to write and so one day she came home from school and started to write down some lyrics. She was 9 at that time. My sister showed me the lyrics and I started to just randomly fit a melody behind those beautiful and heart touching lyrics. Soon enough my dad found out and he encouraged to put this out in the world, and that’s how it all started. The song’s name is Roll Back The Years.

Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your sound?
Shannon K.: Well, I love exploring different genres and sounds so it’s usually pop and sometimes ballad or soul. My sounds are always different because I like to give the listeners a variety of sounds which they would like.

Getmybuzzup: Who are your inspiration?
Shannon K.: My inspiration is my dad first of all because without him I don’t think I would’ve known that I wanted to become a singer and since childhood I’ve been listing to all of his songs and I’m very fascinated by them. Apart from my dad my inspirations are Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars and Adele. I think these artists have a their own speciality. I love the power that Whitney Houston has and I love the sweetness of Mariah Carey’s. I just love each and every song from Bruno Mars’s because they are so touching and the lyrics are so meaningful.

Getmybuzzup: What is it like to be an Indy artist?
Shannon K.: One has to be very strong being an Indy artist as there is not backing of big publishing companies or anything but you still need go make your own place even just to get more noticed. It’s really hard to be an independent artist. There are pros and cons too so like whatever the artist earns, they don’t need to share it with anyone.attachment_170620121031

Getmybuzzup: What are you currently working on?
Shannon K.: Right now I am working on a Jazz song and two other songs with Producer Kyle Townsend. I’m hoping to release few songs next year.

Getmybuzzup: What is the concept behind your latest project?
Shannon K.: The concept behind my latest project “Perpetual” is that the emotions are perpetual and I get inspired by almost everything, from my surroundings to the people I know and sometimes my own personal experiences. There are two songs in this album called Running and I believe that remind me of my grandparents because I miss them so much and unfortunately I was quite young when I lost them so I didn’t have much opportunity to spend time with them. These songs were also written for my dad as he is always traveling for his concerts and I barely get to see him. Lately is basically about high school and how people break your trust and not be loyal enough. Pretty Eyes was actually about Justin Bieber eyes, I was just randomly watching his boyfriend video and I didn’t realize that I was falling for his eyes and that’s how the song came to me.

Getmybuzzup: Any plans on touring to promote your latest album?
Shannon K.: I would love to go on a tour to promote my album and to meet my fans. I don’t have any plans right now but I’ll do in the future. I just performed in Long Beach , Los Angeles and I’ll be performing in Washington DC .

Getmybuzzup: What did you buy with your first check of music?
Shannon K.: I actually gave it to my parents because I had no idea what to do with it and they bought me a beautiful microphone.

Getmybuzzup: What type of high-school student were you?
Shannon K.: I’m 16 and I’m going to be in Grade 11. I think I am a social butterfly, I love making friends and hanging out and talking so yeah. I won’t say I was in the popular squad but everyone knew me and who I was which is kinda cool.14

Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advise in this business you actually followed?
Shannon K.: The biggest advice that I have followed is to never get carried away with negativity. People will be really harsh on you and would criticize you on social media and let you down but you should believe in yourself and have faith in whatever you’re doing because as long as you love what you’re doing, you shouldn’t care about the haters. Think positive and do your best. one day someone, somewhere will recognize your talent.

Getmybuzzup: Will you be collaborating with any other artists on this project or in the future?
Shannon K.: I am looking for collaborations with some artists and producers, hopefully I’ll make a good team with other artists.

Getmybuzzup: What area do you need to improve in your career?
Shannon K.: One thing I certainly have to improve is better production also I’m looking for some good music producers. Second would be stage presence. Since if I have stage fright and I have a lot of anxiety.

Getmybuzzup: What’s your all time fav song?
Shannon K.: My all time fav song is I will always love you by Whitney Houston because it touches my heart and soul each time I listen to this song.

Getmybuzzup: In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

Shannon K.: The most influential artists from today that I think are Bruno Mars and Adele because they write meaningful and heart touching songs so everyone would relate to them. Sometimes an artist is very talented but they don’t get successful if their luck doesn’t support them but I can say that these two artists have a good fortune.

Getmybuzzup: Who have been some of your favorite artists that you’ve been able to work with?
Shannon K.: I haven’t done any collaborations yet but I hope to work with another artists in near future.

Getmybuzzup: How do you feel about the current state of music?
Shannon K.: I think that it’s evolved and there are new styles which represent the true meaning of music as well as being fun to listen to.12

Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as music?

Shannon K.: My main Goal is to make good music and share my feelings through my music.

Getmybuzzup: Who Would you say your music relates to the most?
Shannon K.: I think my music relates to Adele because I write meaningful songs.

Getmybuzzup: What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)
Shannon K.: Due to my Indian ethnicity my song’s always have a message and I try to bring my at least one Indian instrument to my western music to make it sound different.

Getmybuzzup: When you’re not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
Shannon K.: Honestly when I am not recording I text my friends a lot and I go to the gym. I also listen to music so I can get more ideas to write songs.

Getmybuzzup: If you could work with any producer who would it be?
Shannon K.: I’d like to work with Kygo, Calvin Harris and Kyle Townsend.

Getmybuzzup: What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?

Shannon K.: I currently am a fan of Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande‘s music. I love The song shape of you and Despacito.

Getmybuzzup: When performing live what are some of the things you do to get the crowd involved?
Shannon K.: To get the crowd involved when I’m performing I always talk to them and ask them how’s their evening going and I try to be familiar with them. I ask them to dance when I’m singing my songs.

Getmybuzzup: When performing and the crowd is singing along how does that energy make you feel?
Shannon K.: The amount of positivity when the crowd sings along with is very overwhelming and it’s amazing to see that people are enjoying my performance.

Getmybuzzup: What can we expect from you in the future?
Shannon K.: In the future you can except more meaningful/fun songs with better music and producers and maybe in acting too…
