  1. thats like saying if witten was with brady then he would be a higher pick for hall of fame. you cant say that he never went to a super bowl and use that as a reason. it should be based off of stats and commitment

  2. graham gronk gates all had consistent qb play its not like romo wasn't hurt all the time and then the qbs before him were straight garbage

  3. Shannon is hating I think this goes back to Shannon not getting in first ballot. Witten will get in it may not be first ballot though ultimately getting in the Hall is all that matters.

  4. Antonio Gates was a clutch and dependable Tight end too far more than Witten tbh. only thing you can say witten has of Gates is blocking so if Witten is first round Gates should be first round by default

  5. Pro Footballs HOF TE'S
    Dave Casper
    Mike Ditka
    John Mackey
    Ozzie Newsome
    Charlie Sanders
    Shannon Sharpe
    Jackie Smith
    Kellen Winslow
If you can't argue Jason Witten was on a par with or better than most on this list especially #6 you know nothing about football. Period!

  6. The hate is real be side Tony g there not a more reliable dependable te to play the game dude was always open is it his fault that he had two playoff wins no last time I checked that falls on the entire team Hof is based individual stats and numbers don't lie he doesn't have to be that flashy player that leaps off the screen it's his production his character his leadership and the way he played the game that matters don't disrespect greatness

  7. Saying Super Bowl titles or playoff victories are necessary credentials for making you HOF worthy is as asinine as saying without World Series titles and penant race appearances your not worthy of baseball's HOF. In football we have one example of a player whose Super Bowl win earned him entrance into the HOF and he is the least worthy member of of footballs HOF, Joe Namath. He wasn't even close to being as good as say a Craig Morten type QB and no sane person is going to lobby for Morten's HOF credentials. Does anyone out there think Namath has 1/10th of the credentials of Dan Marino, no Super Bowl titles, but more than HOF worthy. So the one time that requirement was the only credential applied the voters failed miserably. Skip and Shannon you sound like petulant aholes. Grow up or get out of the buisness!

  8. Everyone in these comments saying Witten isn't 1st ballot a hall of famer seems to be forgetting that catching the ball is only half a TE's job. All the other guys they listed can't hold a candle to Witten's blocking. Watch all the big td runs for Dallas, and you'll see Witten getting the key block on around half of them.

I'm not saying he's better than Gronk or Gonzalez, but Witten is the best all around TE ever.

  9. Shannon your jealousy is more obvious than the rose on your lapel. None of your mentioned TE'S including yourself came close to being the all around TE Witten was. Skip your view of a TE is those glorified, big WR'S Shannon mentioned the ones who couldn't block there way out of a wet paper bag.

  10. He’s not a game changer or anything not a super freak or super talent like gates, tony, gronk, etc. But he has the numbers, he has longevity, and was greatly dependable. Great blocker. Easily HOF

  11. Everyone fails to take in to account the blocking aspect of the position, as far as balanced there was NO tight end better ALL AROUND the Witten. Durability also was NEVER an issue. You need to be rewarded for being dependable not the same as you are for being "special" but you that does count.

  12. I love some Jason Witten and my Cowboys, but my favorite TE is Shannon Sharpe. Jason Witten is a class act and he’s gonna do a fine job in broadcasting.

  13. Just go watch his tape theres a lot of it! sure he's not super explosive but he did have a hand full of game winning catches the main reason he had so many stats is because he was so reliable! He missed one game in 15 seasons of course he's gonna have good stats

  14. As a Giants fan I can tell you Witten is definitely a HoF TE. I also find the argument that because there were other great TE's during Witten's playing time that somehow diminishes what Witten accomplished.

  15. Shannon Sharpe is a hating Twisted Mouthed Mule!!! Who said he was the best?!?!?! He is one of the best! He's in the group. He's a first ballot Hall of Famer! Hater! Hater! Hater!

  16. To me the tight end is a line man. And to excel in protecting your qb is more important then abandoning him and trying to pretend your a WR. Face it LeShannon you abandoned half your job and if you had did it(your job protecting Elway) the Bronco's would have done better during you tenure. Thats why your ranked 10 according to the NFL all time and not a first ballot HOFer.
