Vancouver’s SonReal built a giant fanbase with his silky vocals and his slick rhymes, but it’s his overwhelming appreciation and gratitude that inspires the most devotion. Today, SonReal releases “The Open Letter” video to his fans that chronicles his journey from humble beginnings in Vernon, British Columbia to the release of One Long Dream, with the trials and tribulations he overcame along the way. With revealing behind-the-scenes footage of SonReal’s career, from open mics where SonReal performed in front of 20 people to the aftermath of a brutal bus accident that nearly took out his whole crew, the video serves as an inspiration for underdogs everywhere and is proof that SonReal’s tenacity is second-to-none. “The Open Letter” arrives hot on the heels of One Long Dream, his debut album released via Black Box Music. An infectious and inspiring record with Indian-American singer-songwriter Sid Sriram as the only guest artist, One Long Dream showcases SonReal’s facility with melody, his relatable charisma, and his sense of humor. Premiered by Highsnobiety, the album features singles and highlights such as the hit single “Can I Get A Witness?,” which has over 4 million streams on YouTube, “Potential,” a moving power ballad with a China-set video, and the uplifting “Problems,” with over 660,000 streams on Spotify and a place on Spotify’s Pop All Day playlist. Born in a small town in rural British Columbia, SonReal is one of the most acclaimed and popular rising stars in Canada, earning six Juno Awards nominations and ten nominations and a win at the MuchMusic Video Awards. He made a name for himself in the American market with his energetic live shows, most recently opening for Jon Bellion on his sold out NA Tour and headlining his own No Warm Up Tour. Earlier this week, SonReal announced the 23-date One Long Dream Tour, which commences in November and makes stops in New York City, Toronto, and his home base of Vancouver.
