Singer / Songwriter Susana Esono Talks New Single “Wanna”, Being a Indie Artist & More [Interview]

Getmybuzzup: Tell us a little about yourself?

Susana Esono: I’ve always liked music since I was young and wanted it to be part of my life. First started writing lyrics because I thought as a singer you were suppose to write your own music, but I like to be involved in the artistic aspect.

 

Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry?

Susana Esono: It’s only has been a year.

 

Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place?

Susana Esono: Well, i had a small recording studio i recorded “Wanna” then I put in music distribution to have it in every digital store and i’ve been trying to promote this song because i think the story or message whatever is relatable.

 

Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your sound?

Susana Esono: Neo Soul

Getmybuzzup: Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

Susana Esono: Sade and I love Bob Marley!

 

Getmybuzzup: How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?

Susana Esono: I write based on real life situations, usually I start writing ideas or words that can mean something. Once I have an idea, that’s when i just keep writing whatever comes to mind and edit it last.

 

Getmybuzzup: What are you currently working on?

Susana Esono: Now, I have a song out “Wanna” as I mentioned earlier and a mini acoustic song “Work From Home” i’m really focus on “Wanna” for now and there’s things I’m trying to do with this song.

 

Getmybuzzup: What is the concept behind your latest project?

Susana Esono: Putting an emotional effect that’s why i’m doing the black and white theme for now.

 

Getmybuzzup: Any plans on touring to promote your latest project?

Susana Esono: Not this year, but at one point I would to.

 

Getmybuzzup: What did you buy with your first check off music?

Susana Esono: Investing on music.

 

Getmybuzzup: What are must haves when your in the studio working?

Susana Esono: Pen,paper, and music.

 

Getmybuzzup: What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?

Susana Esono: Be who you are, I try to authentic as possible. I’m not trying to sell something i’m not.

 

Getmybuzzup: Will you be collaborating with any other artists on this project or in the future?

Susana Esono: No not really.

 

Getmybuzzup: Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?

Susana Esono: Lyrical Flow and content!

 

Getmybuzzup: What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc..)

Susana Esono: Honestly better production as an indie artist who don’t have a big team, I have to do many jobs myself, but it will get better in time.

 

Getmybuzzup: What’s your all-time favorite song?

Susana Esono: Nneka’s “Heartbeat”.

 

Getmybuzzup: In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

Susana Esono: Today Adele, she wasn’t had a long career but she’s break many records and her songs will lived on.

 

Getmybuzzup: Who have been some of your favorite artists that you’ve been able to work with?

Susana Esono: Haven’t worked with anyone.

 

Getmybuzzup: How do you feel about the current state of music?

Susana Esono: It’s changing everyday both good and bad effects.

 

Getmybuzzup: Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?

Susana Esono: No, not really!

 

Getmybuzzup: What is your main goal as far as music?

Susana Esono: To go on world tour, that would be amazing.

 

Getmybuzzup: Who would you say your music relates to the most?

Susana Esono: People who are easygoing, and who’s struggle in life.

 

Getmybuzzup: What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)

Susana Esono: I tell stories in my lyrics in my own way. When it comes to writing there’s a certain elements you should flow. That’s why all my music have an eccentric sound to it and i like it.

 

Getmybuzzup: When your not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?

Susana Esono: Sleeping or going for a walk

 

Getmybuzzup: If you could work with any producer who would it be?

Susana Esono: Haven’t thought about that.

 

Getmybuzzup: What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?

Susana Esono: On spotify my single “Work From Home” hot over 22k streams last month.

 

Getmybuzzup: What is your dream venue to perform at?

Susana Esono: Madison Square Garden

 

Getmybuzzup: What artist music are you currently a fan of?

Susana Esono: Currently Jhene Aiko, Ariana Grande are the main ones I listen to.

 

Getmybuzzup: When performing and the crowd is singing along how does that energy make you feel?

Susana Esono: I haven’t done a lot of performances like I would want to but that feeling is indescribable.

 

Getmybuzzup: What can we expect from you in the future?

Susana Esono: More music!
