Audra McDonald discusses her upcoming film “Respect” and playing Barbara Franklin. “It was an honor to be asked to be a part of it. There’s not a lot that is known about Barbara Franklin…She was a singer. If you look at Aretha Franklin, you’re looking at Barbara Franklin. They have the exact same face.” She adds, “And Jennifer Hudson is going to blow you all away. She absolutely embodies Aretha.” McDonald also discusses “The Good Fight” moving to Paramount+ in June and season 5. “In this season my character Liz and along with Diane [Christine Baranski] come to grips with the fact that it’s the two of them now leading the firm but this is a Black firm and dealing with weather it’s right that a White woman should be in a place of power in this Black firm.” She adds, “We also have lots of wonderful guest stars Mandy Patinkin, we have lots of theater folks, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Margo Martindale, Jane Lynch… it’s like theatre camp every week.”
