“The Talk” host Elaine Welteroth sounds off on country star Morgan Wallen using the n-word on video and reacts to fellow country singer Maren Morris saying his actions were “representative of our town.” Welteroth expands, “This is reflective of her industry. This is common. So, we have to deal with the reality. I think when we gloss over these kinds of things and we say this is not reflective of America; this is not reflective of country music; And I’m sorry to bring up the insurrection, but when we say that’s not reflective of our country, what we’re saying is, we’re not prepared to deal with the reality, ugly truth. She adds, “What I appreciate about this moment is that people are standing up and saying, this is behavior I’ve seen before, and it’s no longer tolerable. And I think that it’s really important not just for Black folks to speak out against this, but for people that look like him to speak out and say that’s not acceptable. Because in this moment, in our country, it is not enough to be not racist. You have to be anti-racist, actively anti-racist, which means condemning those words, condemning that behavior.”
